Ok, thanks, very useful. The Orange Blossom was picked up at the local independent garden store. I admit I am persuaded to choose a variety based on name alone, which explains why there is a Mr. Stripey, Green Zebra, and a Purple Bumble Bee in the garden.

I found out a little more about the Orange Blossom (I like having plants I know AND don't in my garden so I can learn as it grows):. Medium sized orange fruits are sweet, balanced with a little acidity. Productive plants are 2 1/2' tall, suitable for a small cage. They are hybrids.

No problem Zesty. Fruit set started about 30 days after plant out.

But on the positive not, some of my plants ,set out about 9 days ago, are growing. Better Boy and Big Beef are a tad over a foot tall and Big Beef is growing buds. Now we are talking about cool PNW. not SC. hehe.

But seriously it gives me a great pleasure to hear the news of tomatoes fruiting, anywhere.

Juan Flamme got in the game. Orange blossom is in lead. Cherokee Purple's are serious contenders for first fruit setting. Big Beef has set one or two per plant, but is very intent on quadrupling it size every 10 days. The two little Bog Beef tomatoes visible last night were completely obscured this morning from leaflets shooting up from massive stems erupting from the bottom. Last photo attempts to show what the Big Beef is doing. Unbelievable growth rate. I named the plant Goliath, Godzilla woul also be a fitting name.

I think I mentioned in one of my posts how I got a big bale of hay for mulch. I wasn't paying enough attention and got sort of enthusiastic about mulching, and mulched right over some of the the tags. But whatever this one is, I'm happy it is here:)

Looking good. I also have a mystery tomato because I lost the tag. That's ok.

Thanks for the pics Janice and Lucille! Those of us awaiting plant out are hoping that our plants look that nice in a month or so.

As of May 31st, I have few pea size tomatoes on various varieties that I started from seed. But I bought a Tidy Treat, as plant, that has a dozen tomatoes on it. The plant is a compact indet, more like a dwarf.

So we are getting there.
