Staining ash wood floors

We renovated our house and added ash wood floors where tile had been ? Ash wood floors were already in place in other areas. All were sanded to their natural finish then our contractor stained them with Sherwin Williams " Armoire Hickory " color. Only 1 coat was applied totally, but done in stages over a 3 week period. Floor is very splotchy and definite line can be seen where each stage was stopped and started. Is this normal ?
Thank You and need your help !

Wood can absorb stain unevenly when there are grain variations, inconsistencies in sanding, differences in humidity, etc. Poor applicator technique can cause stop lines or streaking. There are many variables that go into floor finishing. It is something to to take up with your installer/finisher. Best of luck with your project.
