How to finish REAL shiplap

We have recently hung shiplap in our new dining room and powder room. I'm looking for tips on the best way to paint it. I know I need to use BIN primer to seal the knots. Would the best finish come from white washing or painting the shiplap? I have found a lot of info on how to paint "DIY" shiplap but not actual shiplap boards. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Once you seal the boards using a primer like BIN, you will not be able to get the effect you are looking for with a white wash. You will have to paint the boards. Go to either Benjamin Moore's or Sherwin Williams websites and find the appropriate specification for interior wood painting.

I did read an article that said it must be spray painted. I am thinking it must be the only way to get in the nooks and crannies. It is going to be beautiful. Good luck.

I'm hoping that I can get in those nooks and crannies with a small brush. I won't be able to spray them, I wish I could!
