I like the rectangles but can it be turned around to shine more light or is that the only way to hang it?

Rectangles but I'd flip them.

The light hanging below the top of the mirror looks odd. The rectangle is pretty and goes well because it echoes the rectangles in the mirrors, but it sits too high. I'd find a similar style that sits lower, but ends a few inches above the mirror.

Thank you guys for responding. The instructions for the rectangles stated that the fixture is for upward lighting only. I'm tempted to flip the light around but I'm afraid the glass will fall off....it's pretty heavy.

@okramar and @shirlpp....I think you guys hit the nail on the head. I was thinking that something was off about the first fixture and you're right....its too high. Must talk to hubby to see if he can lower the fixture....

Some fixtures are for upward lighting only because socket or fittings can not handle the generated heat. Sometimes because the globe only fits one way. Good luck.

Ah, the fixtures we chose for our bathroom could go both ways. I wouldn't hang them against manufacturer's instructions, but maybe you can find something similar that will hang the other way? I think the quality of light will be better aimed down. But I like the squares with your mirrors. If you can find something similar but hanging facing down, you shouldn't have to change the height, which at this point I would imagine will be a major project. If the light hangs slightly over the mirror, I think that is fine, unless you are bothered by the relfection of the light in the mirror when using it.

Thanks Annette...I will nix the idea of switching the lighting direction, with this fixture. I'm on the hunt now for a fixture similar to the rectangles that will sit lower with downward lighting....THANKS!
