Shoot :(

The moment I realized that everything in my remodeled bathroom is chrome EXCEPT the handles on the vanity (that I believed were chrome!).

And I didn't just say Shoot! Really unhappy with myself.

Does it matter? There's no law that all pieces of metal in a bathroom have to match. It's totally normal to have something different on the handles than on the fixtures.

Hope you are right when it's all said and done.

can you just switch out the handles? I bought a vanity that comes with handles I'm not really fond of. Planning on switching them out.

So, what is the finish on those offending handles? And why not post a picture?

You'd probably hate my bathroom! I purposely chose a brushed nickel and ORB. The ORB is on the dark chocolate stained vanity and since it's an ensuite, I used ORB on the door handles (two closets and the bath entry door) to match the bedroom door handles. Faucets, lights, TP holder, train rack are brushed nickel.

I'm with monicakm_gw - my new bathroom has ORB and brushed nickel. Nothing says everything has to match perfect. Sometimes different styles work well and offer some contrast.

Oh, and don't sweat the small things. If the vanity handles cause you grief, then switch them out. They are probably a standard size (?)

LOL! They are satin nickel. I'm breathing again so here's hoping I survive. I am not sure they are standard in size. I had hoped I could use Ikea handles to swap out but those are always goofy sizes. Still a couple days from completion but I do know that I absolitely LOVE my shower/tub tiles. Simple but I couldn't be happier.

I would have no problem mixing chrome and satin nickel (in fact, I have). But I am sure there is a replacement that's the correct size if this is going to continue bug you. IKEA probably uses metric spacing on handles, and it should be no problem to find replacements that match the holes. However, I would live with it for a while to see if this remains high on the scale of life's problems.... :-)

Kudzu9 I think I will live with it for a bit. I'll probably be so over the remodel for a bit when it is finally completed.

I will use this conversation when I decide which bathroom hardware towel holders to go with. I have two to choose from. I'm sure either will look nice.

I know what you mean about needing to take a pause from remodeling. If the pulls on the vanity are the only thing that are satin nickel, I might be inclined to choose chrome towel holders, since functionally the vanity is a piece of furniture and the other stuff in the bathroom is hardware.

The ones I have that I am considering are chrome. I never thought of the vanity as being more like furniture. I will absolutely wait until it is all done and look at the room to see if it makes me kooky. Truth is it was such a horrible pit before that all is an improvement and I am so excited!

If you keep looking, I bet you can find towel bars with a brushed/polished combo finish! (I am sure it looks just fine!)

Can you give us a preview of the tiles you love? I'm having a hard time picking tiles, and it's always encouraging to hear someone found the perfect tile.

mixing finishes is very in right now, but if you really can't stand it, changing knobs is about the easiest thing to do in a remodel.

If you search bathroom photos on Houzz ... and really look carefully at the finishes, you will notice that a large number of them have mixed metals.
