This was the least expensive tile we could find... hex for the floor with a medium grey grout, subway for the walls with white grout... maybe Florida Tile... it's been so long I can't remember, but this was not a pricey solution.

are these tiles 1 inch or 3 inch

1 inch... it's what I'd expect to see in my grandparents' house and therefore (in my mind) acceptable for a new old house. Not fancy, nothing special but just right. In my experience, not too many people can resist the temptation to "improve" it... thereby messing it up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
