What is the model#? Unless there is ventilation on the top I do not see why. Or they don't want to be blamed for anything that is a possibility. You know how the government likes to go after big manufactures.

They want the air to circulate as much as possible. You have a lot of settings on this machine. Steam dry, etc. You need the ventilation. Maybe instead of a solid top you have a shelf made with slats for the circulating issue. And I can't tell if the dryer is stacked on the washer or if the washer is on the dryer

I like a counter over W/D that can be lifted up out of the way for servicing so I usually use plywood with laminate on it for this purpose as for distance I guess if i want to have the warranty I would follow the instructions

Does anyone have experience with a removable shelf above the W/D -- I have double steam and I like the idea of a vented counter top in wood --- I was ready to order a solid surface or stone countertop, fixed, but my spouse is asking for an easier way to move the W/D, for repair, cleaning, and replacement. I don't use the steam that often, but when I do, I really need it! Would definitely have used it more when I was working in an office, or with teenagers at home, but we are both retired, and from government, and our children use our laundry infrequently. I don't like the idea of a slatted wood top as the reason I want a solid counter on top of the W/D is because things fall behind/beside the W/D, and the steam plus dust and soap creates a yucky mess under and behind the W/D. Thoughts?
