2016 State Fair Flower & Garden Show

Once again I find myself in charge of the State Fair Flower Show (I ran it years ago when the power structure was different). Since I am a rabid gardener, this quiet corner of the fair is the highlight of my gardening year and something I look forward to and plan for throughout the summer. Being the big dog in charge means I won't be competing - I'll be giving out ribbons instead of taking any home.

One of the new-to-me tasks I have in front of me is to find the staff to operate the show. Not only are there numerous volunteer positions during the course of the 10 day event, but there are paid positions as well. Some manual labor positions begin next month and run through November. They are paid hourly and are considered seasonal work. Other positions are more focused on the show during fair time. Not all of the jobs are plant related, there is a bit of scheduling and information management involved with a show this big.
So if anyone knows anybody looking for a summer job working outside in a large complicated garden - send them my way. johnbuettner@hotmail.com
