The tiler lacked the skill to give it a smooth finish. I'd have the edge redone. It is not a huge problem but if you pay for professional work you should get a professional result, don't you think?

It looks like caulk not grout. That won't hold up too well. Needs to be redone.

Absolutely, I would have the surrounding edge tiles removed and re-installed. Should be simple to remove the few tiles necessary, especially if it is caulk that surrounds the drain. Plus on the re-install, the tiles should come closer to the actual opening with minimal grout line.

The rough jagged raw exposed edges will eventually be a dirt collector and a problem when trying to clean it--and you have no idea what this will feel like on your feet.

It looks like your installer did not want to take the time to make these cut edges smooth and neat. Looks like he just nipped away at the edge with no regard to the finish look. Work like this always makes me wonder where else did he take short cuts. The reason why we get finished products like this is because people are willing to accept poor workmanship. If you wanted a DIY look, you wouldn't have hired a professional.

Once your shower is done I would invest in this wonderful BrassCraft Shower Drain Cover for $5.99 @ Lowes Item #: 367451, which prevents a lot of hair from going into your plumbing and still lets the water drain. Very low profile and beveled rubber edge. It sits very flush on your tile, you hardly know its there. I have had mine for years and it still looks new. I believe they also make a smaller size for kitchen sinks. but I used this same size in my kitchen sink.

This would not be acceptable tile work to any tile professional, you are not dealing with A tile pro here..

What does youre contract say about the Tile installation methods and standards to be met and followed on youre project? You should have a detailed scope explaining this??? often times a low price is at the core of the problem with results like this..

Yep! It looks like the installer gnawed those tiles with his molars.

That's yet another good reason to feed the tradespeople.

Just send them these photos or ask them to come over and ask them to smooth the edges. This is not a major issue, but it still looks very sloppy and unprofessional.
