It looks like Black Locust to me as well. And ours are blooming now.

I want one, whatever the heck it is. (I google, but am not a tree person). I had to have some trees taken out of my front yard. I now have one half tree (a birch) and another that I don't know what it is and don't care. It's ugly. Anyway, I have a spot that has had 3 trees removed and somewhat "stump grinded" . I am looking for something pretty, that isn't going to cost me money in the next 10 years, and that the utility companies won't cut down. That tree is beautiful.

I would do my research before I put a Black Locust in my yard. They are great permaculture trees because they are a legume and they fix nitrogen. The blooms are fragrant, great for bees, and beautiful. They make great firewood and fence post that last a long time. On the other hand, they have large thorns, some trees worse than others, and they spread by underground roots. While great for a woodland, not so great for a yard.

I agree. In addition, they spread hundreds of seeds that come up everywhere and grow if they aren't mowed down. You will be pulling them out of your flower beds for years.

They also get very tall, too tall for a city lot IMO.
