We are about to undergo a living room makeover that will include replacing the existing gas fireplace with more modern linear fireplace, building up wall that fireplace is on and installing stone from floor to ceiling, and removing the entertainment unit.

The idea was to have the fireplace "wall" simple - stone with no mantle. New larger TV mounted on wall beside it with a long modular media unit underneath.

Dilemma - there have been suggestions to mount tv above the fireplace, and possibly add a mantle as well. I'm hesitant about doing this for a couple reasons -

1. Furniture placement I'd be unsure about.

2. With tv being on fireplace, not sure what I'd do with the wall and floor space the existing entertainment unit covers (large prints/storage piece?).

3. Eventually oak will be replaced in our house, not sure what type/color of mantle to go with.

Suggestions would be helpful! Thanks :)

(ps wall color will be changing eventually and yes - ceiling fan is also going)
