Make some outdoor living space with a deck or patio, if possible a pergola would be nice. Don't bother with shutters. If you could change the window to French doors or other glass doors it gives you much more living space. For colors look to the sand, sun, water, driftwood, shells. Native plants and beach grasses.

I'd like to see a better picture of the entrance area. No shutters because they could only go on the smaller window and I think it would not look right. The house does need painted. What state are you in? What is your USDA hardiness zone. There is a lot you can do for this house.

Thanks Emmarene. I'm in California, zone 10b. The house needs a lot. But I don't want to paint or do anything until I have a plan....(change the windows, the siding....) Here is a closer view of the entrance. Sorry it isn't better, but I'm not currently at the house to take a better one. I have removed all the lattice already. The front door is on the left behind the lattice. I plan to have the gas meter in front moved around to the side behind the fence. I look forward to reading your ideas.

Have the utility (phone? cable?) wires in the front moved around to the side of the house.

Will you be replacing the light gray roof as part of your external redo? The roof color determines the coordinating paint color scheme.

The wires will all be removed. it's old cable from the previous owners, The roof can be changed.... depends on the look i decide to go for. David sugested board and batten siding earlier. I have been checking it out and i like the look....maybe with a metal roof?
