Northern willowherb, an Epilobium species.

Very common here in the northwest. Some plants bloom while rather short -- 18 inches or so -- while I've had a few go to 30 inches.

The tiny flowers are pink. The seeds are distributed by wind.

Best remedy is to remove the plants as seedlings but definitely before the bloom/set seed.

Try not to break them off. Once you do that the roots seem to go into overdrive and they are actually really hard to pull.
