Need ideas for kitchen remodel, please help!

A while ago I bought a small rancher (built around 1966) with a small kitchen, size is 11.7 x 10.3 - Am thinking of knocking down the wall by the stove since it's not load bearing and extending the cabinets and countertop into the living room and perhaps making this a galley kitchen. I have a dining room so I don't use the table in the kitchen. Dark cabinets won't work because of the space but I'm open to other ideas. Need new floor, countertops, cabinets, lights, paint, sink. I've updated the appliances, they are now all GE with black finish.

Any suggestions & ideas would be welcomed.

I love galley kitchens! Can we see the floorplan for the kitchen and living room?

This isn't the best picture but the kitchen wall (where the desk is) would come down. I've redone this room with new carpet and paint. There is no furniture in the room now so that wall is empty. This room size is 11.9 wide, 23 long. And don't ya just love the paneling!!!

When you say the wall by the stove, Do you mean the wall that the stove is against right now? Are you thinking of moving the stove to the wall where the table is? If so this will impact your ability to vent the stove unless you put the stove on the sink wall. Is there a reason you want to open up to the living room?

You could open up the kitchen to the dining room more. If that is a load bearing wall, you could just make the doorway into the dining room much larger. The closet would become smaller, but you could put storage along the wall where the kitchen table is - either in cabinetry or in a hutch or pie safe.

    Do you have a budget?

Can you remove the closet in the kitchen? If so...

I think it all depends on how you intend to use that end of the living room. Is this the room you watch tv in? With the patio door, the closet door and the door that I suspect goes to the garage, this will never be the main seating area. I am not opposed to a galley kitchen, I am just not sure if it is worth relocating the stove and venting that area. I like the last floor plan that ER612 submitted. On the other hand, I would never give up a closet in a kitchen. That is a real asset.

What is the total budget for all the works? That is important.

Total budget is around 18K - it's a small kitchen and I only have to replace 1 appliance, the rest is really for tile, cabinets, backsplash, paint, lighting and sink.

One door is the side entrance that goes out to the carport, the other is my washer/dryer area.

This is a designer layout that shows the kitchen opened up into my family room. The pantry is to the far right, next to the fridge. The family room is more of an office space, and I don't entertain there.

I needed more work space so the designer put the pantry and fridge next to each other.

The wall has been knocked down and the cabinets extended just a bit. I have a doggy door (not shown) that is right next to the patio doors, and the corbel is just above that. I will have to move my dishwasher but that I hope will be easy.

    What does everyone think?
