deer resistant shrubs

I need some foundation shrubs/bushes to plant near my house. We need access to the house so we are cutting down ornamental grasses that help trap snow and reduce air intake for the gas furnace. We are near a tree preserve so the choices also need to be deer resistant. Any suggestions?

All right, let me type out the rest of it. Note these are common names but I can edit in botanical names later.

Rule of thumb is Deer don't like grasses nor smelly things. Mostly they avoid prickly things, but they sure love Rose flowers/buds so that's not always a safe bet!
