Every appliance will have negative reviews, as cactusflwr says, people write reviews when they DON'T like something so you're getting a skewed view of the product. I've had a Bosch (mid-range, panel ready) DW for about 18 months now and LOVE it. So quiet and cleans everything so well. The only downside is that the cycle is very long, but I've heard that is the case with most of the dishwashers made now.

There were a lot of complaints about customer service if they had a problem. Literally half the Amazon reviews were complaints about their lack of customer service. It seemed the power boards were going out and Bosch was taking months to acknowledge the problem until they were out of warranty.

I've had mine for several years. It's one of the lower end models. It is very quiet and gets the dishes and glasses spotless. Haven't needed customer service so don't know about that. The only negative for me is the rack design, which took a long time for me to get used to and figure out how to load efficiently.

When mine went out, it was under warranty and the place where we bought it fixed it with no problem. When it went out the second time years later, my husband bought the part and fixed it....no problem. Remove a few screws, unplug board, replace with new, replace screws.

But....we have lots of power surges due to all the new construction constantly going on. We live in an "up and coming" part of Indiana that has not really stopped growing since we moved back in 1984.

We have a Bosch dishwasher. After 4 years began making noise in the pump service man said it would cost more to fix than washer was worth.it is still running but noisy. Racks top and bottom have rust with some tines breaking of $500.to replace.oreplace.only 2 people in the house so it is not used everyday

I have had three over the last 20 years in three different houses.....loved each of them.....they make different styles and if I were choosing again i would take a few dishes wiht me to see which ones give me the best loading options....but love mine a whole lots.

Bosch is a piece of Very expensive junk! you have to Prewash everything in order for it to come out clean. Really what’s the use! just buy a drying rack. Ours worked OK! for a year or so then slowly got worse 3 Years in and the repairs were more costly than to purchase a new one. Seriously just a piece of plastic junk!

We still have our Bosch that I talked about in my response 4 years ago. It it working fine. I do not have to pre rinse. Since then, we have gotten a water softener, so now I don't even have to use Jet dry anymore. I had to clean out the holes in the arms with a toothpick due to calcium build up, but since our water softener, I have not had to do that.

I doubt we would buy another Bosch. We bought one 2 years ago and already heating element went out--Bosch would pay for part of repair--they were not very helpful. Not a fan of their unwillingness to stand behind their product.

If you purchase a Bosch be sure to also purchase a wet/dry vacuum - you will need it to fix the E24 error which will occur every few weeks after about a year of ownership. Just go to YouTube and do a search for E24 Bosch dishwasher and you will find several hundred videos of that one error code. It is an ongoing problem with Bosch/Siemen dishwashers worldwide.

The worst dishwasher ever. I have had the dishwasher for 3 year. Was told that all I had to do was suction out the water and drain area and clean the filter. Well, what I was not told is that this process is a constant process that has to be done just about every week. I recently spent $300 replacing the pump because the repair man that Bosch recommended said my pump was bad. This was done about a month ago and I believe this is some type of scam. I am not back to square one. Shop vacuuming my dishwasher and cleaning the filter. You should not have to wash the dishes thoroughly before you put them in the dishwasher. I bought this dishwasher based on customer reviews. I like the washing performance of this dishwasher, and the lighted controls…especially that it tells me how many minutes are left on the chosen cycle and when it is finished. It is also very quiet. There is one thing that frustrates me and that is the design of the lower rack. The tines are placed so that it can accommodate 12 place settings (according to the instruction manual). Few, if any, people have need for this on a daily basis. What is needed for families is capacity for place settings combined with serving bowls, mixing bowls, and cooking utensils. However, the tines are positioned so that this is very difficult and requires running the dishwasher more frequently or doing more hand washing. (My previous dishwasher was much more accommodating of a variety of dishes and pans.) I wrote a letter to the manufacturer with my concerns and asked if there is an alternative bottom rack. I got a call back but was unavailable. The message was that they would call back. Never happened. I called the number in the instruction book twice, each time the representative said she would have another person call me back….never happened. I thought Bosch was a top of the line brand and expected better service than this. At this point I would never recommend this brand to anyone. Model: SHEM63W56N/13

Wow, mine is 7 years old and I never had a problem with it. Never cleaned the filter, the only shortcoming is that it doesn't dry dishes very well. But that seems to be a problem emanating from the eco-police who made the DW companies eliminate heat dry.

Not only are they not all they are supposed to be but the company will not stand behind their product. I had a different brand for over twenty years and only replaced it due to a kitchen makeover. I should have kept the old one. The Bosch motor went out in 3 and a half years. Good luck with trying to have Bosch do anything. Would never by Bosch again and recommend you don't either.

I bought the Bosch Silence Plus 44 three years ago. It gets dishes extremely clean and so very quiet. No problems whatsoever. I liked to inside layout of my previous kitchen aide better, but had so many other problems with it.

We bought our Bosch 500 series dishwasher 5 years ago, all of the top side gaskets became soft and fell to the bottom of the unit, Bosch declared it unrepairable after two phone calls and going to a supervisor they offered to replace for about half of what we paid new. After 3 months of shipping delays and 10 different stories of why they were not shipping and no date that we could expect to receive a replacement we gave up and bought a competitive unit. We will never buy any Bosch products again.

I recently remodeld my kitchen and had a Bosch 800 series dishwasher installed. I specifically bought the Bosch because of its built-in water softener. I’ve been using it for 2 months now and think it’s probably the most poorly designed dishwasher ever made! The entire lower rack is useless for anything other than FLAT medium sized plates. The tines are so closed together some plates don’t fit without bending the tines apart. Folding the tines down leaves you with a big flat area with no way to stand things up. The top section is no better. Anything more than a few small coffee cups (cups NOT mugs) and shallow cereal bowls and it’s full. No place to put deeper bowls or mugs or tall glasses. Whowever came up with this layout surely never loaded a dishwasher with actual dishes used by real people in the course of a regular day! There are only 2 of us in my household, yet I have to run it almost everyday even though it’s nowhere near full. Normal everyday stuff just doesn’t fit!!! Very poor design. Buyer beware.

I am on Bosch dishwasher #2, love the dishwashers but if you do run across any problems. Bosch does NOT honor their warranty, my biggest gripe. I have a 800 series ($1500), purchased 8 months ago and noticed the panel fascia had a hairline crack, contacted Bosch and they directed me to their parts department for me to purchase a new fascia panel, $50 part they should cover. The top rack sticks when adjusting height, they suggested a repairman to determine the problem, their way of wiggling out of replacing a rack. They would rather lose a longtime customer than fix (2) items, under warranty.

I would suggest buying a Kitchen Aid.

I am sorry you are having so much trouble. We recently had to replace out 20 year old Bosch with an 800 series.

I have not had any trouble loading any of our dishes, bowls, etc. They load in wonderfully.

I run ours about every 2-3 days unless I have company over or I go on a cooking spree!!!

Because there are only 2 of us, I choose to space everything out a little more.

And our plates are a little tall, so I cannot put one directly under the spinning arm above it.

The thing I am not fond of, is the silverware basket on the side of the rack instead of in the front. I have to open the door fully and slide out the lower rack to put in the silver ware.

But, I use the 60 minute short cycle for all of my dish washing and I have not had any difficulty with loading or things getting clean.

Someone in the past kinda made fun of me for hand washing a lot of my dishes, so I have made a concerted effort with this one to put everything in but aluminum and non stick pans.

I have not had any trouble loading all of the stuff in the dishwasher.

Bought my Bosch dishwasher a month ago. HATE the tracks! I have no idea who designed these things. Too close together. Odd angles. Glasses and cups don't fit properly. Dishes sit on top of each other. Very unhappy with my purchase, but I'm stuck with it FOR NOW.

We renovated our first floor Bar in 2018 and added a 18 inch Bosch 300 series dishwasher to make it easier for cleaning up after parties. The first dish that arrived at the appliance reseller would not work (thankfully they have a policy to test all appliances before delivery). They had to order another one and it took over 8 weeks to arrive. Finally the dishwasher was installed in 2019 and we had guest over and used the dishwasher for the first time. It cleaned okay and was very quite, but was disappointed that the rack could not handle many stemmed glasses. We had a couple more events were we could use the dishwasher. Then 2020 hits us with Covid and the dishwasher is not used again until December 2022 after Covid restrictions were lifted. In December we hosted guest and I loaded the dishwasher and went to start it and I got an E24 error code. I had to unload the dirty dishes and take them up a flight of stairs to our main floor and loaded them in the dishwasher (Samsung Waterfall) and then I had to go to first floor and completely wash out the Bosch dishwasher so it would not smell and mildew.
The next day we contacted Bosch Customer Service and they said they couldn't send someone out until early Feb. '22. In February the day before service was scheduled, we were contacted by Bosch that the tech had Covid and had to cancel. The CSR said that they would get back to us with a reschedule date, we never got contacted. In mid-Feb we call Bosch and they said that the part for the dishwasher that tech report as being bad was on back order and didn't know when it would come. We were surprised to here that a part was order since no one had ever looked at the dishwasher and explain it to the CSR. They said "oh we will get in to and let you know". Once again nothing but crickets... Bosch never called us back.
We decide to call Bosch and this time we acted like this was the first time for us to call. After severals day we received a call stating that service date in April '22 was set and told us that we must pay $150 for the service call.
I am so sorry I every bought this dishwasher, especially after the first model that was delivered to the appliance store didn't work. I should have bought a different brand.

Paying over a thousand dollars plus $150 to use a dishwasher for only 3 times In 3 1/2 years is a bit much. I could have hired someone to hand wash the dishes and it would have been better. Now that we are able to entertain, I am having to make several trips up and down the stairs to load the main floor dishwasher. My husband and I are in our 80's and it is a risk every time we have to this. Also when we unload the main floor dishwasher all the dishes, glasses, utensils and service ware have to be taken back to the first floor and put away in their respective cabinets. I will never buy another Bosch product again. I have a Meile dishwasher at another property and it works great!

Intalled a Bosch 800. Worst and most expensive mistake ever! I stand by my previous comment. Probably the most stupidly designed dishwasher ever! Fine if all you ever wash is FLAT round dishes and a few cups (very few). Forget bowls - especially salad or mixing bowls, or pots or pans. Not going to happen. Platters? Nope. There is no rhyme or reason to the design and sizing of the interior racks. Do yourself a favor - keeping looking.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more about the Bosch 800 series dishwasher. I can load everything from small glasses to large pots and pans in it. It's very versatile, so you can remove the utensil basket and have more room on the bottom rack. Bowls, platters, too, and it gets everything very clean. My only gripe is that the dry function is not very good, especially for plastic items. I've had mine for over 8 years and it's still running perfectly.

We've had a 500 series for about 2-3 years...family of 5 and it runs twice a day with no problems. We love it. My parents and sister have one as well and continue to like theirs. As mentioned before, the drying function isn't great, but we are used to it and isn't a big deal. Also, we only use the 60 min short cycle and comes out great every time. As far as loading and dish racks, I'm the cramming type and I can "always" find a spot. :)

We had our Bosch dishwasher fail (model SHE43RF2UC/64) last spring, flooding our first floor and basement with over 700 gallons of water. After over $30,000 in damage, I will never have another Bosch dishwasher in my house.

Worst interior rack design I've ever seen! I paid for it and will use it until it dies and replace it with a whirlpool again. My sister had the best idea. She used her Bosch dishwasher 3 days and returned it to the store saying she wasn't paying for a machine that she couldn't load her dishes into and that didn't clean them properly. Then, she bought a Whirlpool.

We had a Bosch that was awful; it did not clean dishes. On our 2nd KitchenAid and love it.

Discussions like this prove that you cannot use anecdotal information to purchase appliances. There are those at both ends of the spectrum from those who love the product to those who hate it. The best way to research appliances is to view the results of Consumer Reports or J.D. Powers on a specific appliance. They have polled hundreds or even thousands of consumers in order to make judgments and have gathered the information in a more scientific way. Even then, you can be misled and get a lemon.

That is how I purchased my latest dishwasher. I don't believe

Bosch is bad product. I firmly believe it is this one particular dishwasher that has problems with the draining design. I have had the pump fixed 3 times. We just live with a shop vac next to the dishwasher. The slightest amount of anything stops the draining and we get an E24 or E25 error. We just gave up. When contacting Bosch they tell me to vacuum it out.

I have another home with a Bosch dishwasher and it has worked fine for over 10 years. My sister has a Bosch and has never had a problem.

It is just this dishwasher.

Our Bosch 300 stopped working at about 13 mon. The customer service is appalling. Worse I have ever experienced. The phone CSR people are terrible and caused water damage that they refused to pay for. Their phone system doesn't work and causes endless delays. Dozens of hours wasted. The phone system literally hangs up on customers while on hold. The CSR are terrible on follow through and untrained. They don't know how to solve problems. They can't track parts so you are left in limbo for months. It took 3 visits and 4 mons to get our appliance fixed. I would never buy Bosch again. They make false promises re follow up and visits and don't live up to them. Took 4 months and 3 visits to get our appliance fixed. Absolutely terrible. You would have to consciously work to design a worse CSR system. Their follow through on my detailed demand for payment of the emergency plumber bill for the flood they caused was nonexistent. No response other than a CSR reading me a denial. No explanation. She had no information. Terrible. Don't buy it and run the other way!

We bought a Bosch 300 dishwasher because it was highly rated. Unfortunately, we're very dissatisfied with it, because it does not clean, rinse, or dry well. To save energy, it relies on a filter to remove food particles rather than flushing water down the drain and refilling. That works ok for some food, but the filter cannot remove oil and grease from the water. If we wash an oily pan, all the dishes will have an oily feeling after it finishes. If a label comes off something and gets caught in the filter, it's a major pain to clean it. There is no drying element, so plastic items come out dripping wet.

Over the 50+ years we've been married, we've owned many dishwashers. This is by far the worst one we've owned. We've only owned the dishwasher for six months, but we're shopping for a replacement that will NOT be a Bosch.

I bought my Bosch 800 series dishwasher in 2017. Recently, the black flexible plastic/rubberish cover at the very bottom (I think it is suppose to cover the sound insulation) shredded and fell down in multiple places. I called Bosch customer service and was told that she washen’t trained to address this. She said that it would take a service call at $150, then $160/hour for service + parts. Yikes! I could be easily up to $400 quickly for a plastic/rubberish cover! My dishwasher works fine. I’ve tripped over this fallen down shredded cover and it looks bad. But I’m not going to invest $400 in it.

I have changed the settings and soap and rinse agents for hard water all per the Bosch reps’ recommendations.
3 different appliance techs, replacement of the heat pump, top spray arm and power module…still no change. Bosch tells me to go to Home Depot to get my money back!

I had a Bosch for 12 years. The plastic handle cracked after a couple years and then the whole plastic control board cracked about six weeks ago. It cleaned okay, but never dried well. And I have to say the racks were too small and I ended up doing a lot of hand washing. I couldn't fit my mixer bowl in it if I wanted to put anything else on the rack. I just got a Kitchenaid and it is so much larger, and cleans and dries so much better than the Bosch ever did. I think Bosch is overrated.

I have owned 10 Bosch high end dishwashers in 5 houses. in the last 5 years quality has declined. My last two have had endless problems. One failed right oit of the box. Boshe has repaired multiple tokes and it never worked. i do not recommend these - theh are cheap, parts are expensive and Bosche repairmen are rude.

@Diana Bier: I'm an analyst and scientist who spends EXTENSIVE time reviewing compiled reporting, reviews, and other "data types." The reports you reference have consistently degraded their reporting over the last 10 years -- to the point of NOT reporting known recalls. Unfortunately, many of these organizations are now more interested in creating positive (albeit specious) rankings for major appliance manufacturers through the "lies, white lies, and statistics" approach. Ok, Brigitta, so we cannot rely on those sources to evaluate appliances. I understand what you're saying. But anecdotal evidence is completely unscientific as you probably already know.

So what is your recommendation? How should one approach selecting appliances?

We have lived in our current home for 32 years. There was a GE that lasted 4 years. Since then, we have had Bosch. We are on our second one that we bought in 2020. So far no trouble!! I love it!! Gets dishes clean. I use the 60 minute wash and it uses about 4 gallons! Our first one we had to replace the mother board a couple times because we had power surges....disadvantage of living in a new build community to town to city!! But, hubby was able to change it without difficulty. So far, knock on wood, no surges and it is working great!! So, anecdotal information from me would be buy one.

@Diana’s Interior Designs: I'm still trying to figure that out. One of the other things that has been happening for over a decade is the use of bots and algorithm "adjustment" to create positive reviews and drive customer messaging/targeting. The "larger picture" side of me says this is a policy issue that needs to be addressed at a national level (i.e.: truth in reviews, data collection, etc.). The other side of me says, take it all in and weigh things out. If we look at the trend from this and other homeowner-led forums, what are we learning? One of the biggest one I see is the drop off in quality. Now, this may be an industry-wide trend (just ask anyone who bought an LG/Samsung refrigerator over the last 5 years). In that case, the issue is largely the compressor that is creating the underlying issue. My 20+ year old LG fridge is still running strong. However, these are apples and oranges in the world of refrigerator tech. Take a look at this "ConsumerAffairs" site -- which appears pretty legit -- until you read the disclaimer at the top. Here are screen shots of just 3 types of analysis I did a few years ago. As I start a new set of analysis now, I'm trying to automate this process with AI tools. But, the problem stays the same -- what data is worth using?

FWIW: my background is Organic Chemistry and all-source Intelligence Analysis. My knowledge of the Appliance industry and all the machinations thereof is only what I've learned over the past 10 years of being a more informed homeowner (as well as the person who has to hold the flashlight when my spouse fixes it).

There was a Bosch dishwasher in my house when I closed on it and I've tolerated it ever since - to say it's a pretty crappy dishwasher is an understatement. You have to thoroughlly wash you dishes before putting them in the dishwasher or they'll pretty much be just as dirty at the end of the cycle as they were when you put them in. But it looks really nice and it's very quiet - it just doesn't remotely do what it's supposed to. That's actually fairly typical of European built appliances though - they look really nice; but they do their job VERY badly.

never again will i get a Bosch anything!! Brand new dishwasher and have been going through a nightmare trying to get Bosch to fix it, and forget about replacing a brand new unit, they will Frankenstein it to death first. They know it is a bad motherboard, so they are giving other diagnoses in lieu of replacing it. Customer service acts as if you are their enemy or soemthing, and the cherry on top, when they put you on hold, they play staticky music with a woman saying, "please hold the line" every few seconds. It's impossible to listen to.

My Bosch dishwasher is terrible. It worked for a couple weeks then gave a E31 error message (leak detection). 3 service calls have been made, each time "fixing" the problem and each time the next time i use the dishwasher it stops w the same message. Each time it takes a week to get a new service call. They will not let me return this expensive dish drain. Now I'm waiting 3 weeks for a "specialist" to come it. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY.

My 2020 Bosch is still going strong!! I still use the 60 minute wash cycle and open it when done to humidify the kitchen area!! There is a rust spot on the lower rack from my plates, so I will have to think about replacing it at some time. Again, this is my anecdotal information.
