Need Help with Paint Colour
We just finished doing a bathroom reno. In daylight and in the bathroom near the vanity, the tub surround sample, paint and granite and cabinets all go together well. We used BM Florentine Plaster paint, Fusion quartzite and Caesarsone Dreamy marfil for the tubsurround and behind the toilet to wainscot height. In daylight the Dreamy Marfil and our cabinets are nearly the same colour. But there is no window in the bathroom.
The lighting seems to be throwing the colours off. The Dreamy Marfil is reading more pinkish and the painted wall above it at the far end has a green tint. I know there are green tones in it, but we have it throughout our home and it doesn't look like this anywhere else. We can't change the vanity fixture because we just bought it and it was an expensive item with LED strip lights. It is very bright and other than maybe needing a dimmer, we like the colour of light it puts out. It is not too warm or too cool. The paint colour around the vanity is what we would expect it to be. But in some areas it is getting washed out and also looking green. I think we need a darker paint to contrast with the tub surround and absolutely no green tones. The vanity and floor to ceiling cabinets are a light cream with a hand painted grey streak that is barely visible. We have a light in our ceiling fan that is a fairly cool white. we are going to try warm white bulbs. but they are the weird ones with the pins on the end and we haven't found any yet. But the paint problem is there even when the fan light isn't on, so I don't think that will help and most people likely won't put that light on.
I would love some suggestions. DH says a darker brown paint would really make the Fusion counter top look rich and add contrast with the tub surround. I think a darker grey might be what we need. I want to lessen the pink in the tub surround and eliminate the green cast in the walls. My friend says a off white because dark paint will make the room look smaller. I think we have enough light colours with the cabinets and tub surround and not much wall space, that a dark colour would be better and not visually shrink the room too much.
Attached are a couple pics. The towel on the vanity is not red, but an orange that goes nicely with the fusion. (we haven't hung the towel hook yet since I am re-painting.)
I tried to get the colour to show the pink and green tones in there.

10 years agoI painted my bathroom an adobe red color. Here's a pic. I have crema marfil tiles in my shower in that room. The color closer to the toilet is closer to how it looks in real life. There is no light in this bathroom.
