What color(s) shall I stain a Kindel Dining set?

I'm buying an older Kindel dining set. I am NOT painting it, but am considering getting it stained again. I am using it in my kitchen as I have a dining set in my dining room.
Shall I (1) have the whole thing stained a color similar to my cherry cabinets, (2) have table top stained a cherry color & skirt/legs of table and chairs stained an antique white, (3) do something in black & cherry, or other suggestions?
I don't care to go to gray, as I believe it will be trendy and not classic.
Also, when reupholstering the chairs, shall I stay with a plain neutral, do a black and white geometric pattern, or some type of patterned color?
Below are 3 pictures of my kitchen with an older dining set to be removed and a picture of a similar Kindel set (not mine as mine is in poorer condition). I didn't include some possible fabric ideas for seats - I ran out of room---- unless I can attach them later.

    I would not use antique white on the set. The black and white fabric is very contemporary and the dining set is traditional so I'm not sure I'd go with that either. You could do a cherry stain on everything and choose a pattern for the cushions to add some color, maybe something transitional. The other thing you could do is stain the table cherry and have the chairs painted black.

      I like black but definitely need vibrant seat covers such as the black and white seat fabric you posted.

      I like the idea of cherry table and black chairs. I don't think it matters that set was traditional when buying fabric, unless it bothers you. It will be eclectic once you redo it anyway.

      Thanks for the input! I know those fabrics aren't right- it was just an initial idea. I'm afraid to put a patterned color on the seats - mostly what I see on dining seats is a plain neutral - white, beige, etc.
      Should I put a color on the seats, plain or patterned, and maybe find a rug with similar colors in it? Or should I go with a plain or patterned neutral?
      (Yes, a more subtle pattern than the black and white pictured above)

      Also- can I get away with using this as a kitchen set rather than a formal dining set?
      The came back chairs to me suggest less formal, and I thought the right fabric might also help

      Based on all the suggestions, have you decided how you are going to paint and or stain the set? You could definitely use this as a kitchen set. I like the blue/grey island so perhaps you could choose a neutral background and have the blue be the dominant color in the fabric. A less formal fabric would make it more casual. Sunbrella fabrics are washable and would work well especially if you have young kids. Just a thought.

      That black & white pattern was a sunbrella fabric - so yes I'm considering that type of fabric. Also my reupholsterer suggested a tough fabric (cryptonite?) - I haven't really investigated yet.
      I do want a casual looking fabric, and I do have some blue elsewhere. I just didn't know whether to put some blue on the chairs or keep them neutral and have color come in elsewhere instead.
      I just got the furniture to the refinisher. I'm considering all cherry ( keep it classic) or maybe some part in black.....

      FYI- the island is actually BenMoore HC168 - Chelsea Gray.
      Could I do a geometric print on chairs - maybe like below (not necessarily those colors)
      Just an idea - unless that's too contemporary also!

      Yes, absolutely, you could use those fabrics. They are more subtle which is what I like about them. I guess I wasn't really crazy about the black and white fabric with that set and a plain beige is boring. If you wanted to stay neutral, I like the tan with the circles on it because it's more interesting. I do color consultations and help homeowners choose paint colors, so I was able see the color of the island. It looks very different in the photos! I don't see any color in the photos other than the towel so that's why I thought color on the chairs would be a nice addition to the space.

      Thanks for your ideas. You are correct - so far there isn't color in the kitchen. I need to add it somehow in accessories or something!
      I have shades of blue in the back entry, laundry, and half bath. I'd love to carry some blue in the kitchen also... Maybe?
