I'd move the chairs angled to each other with an end table between them. Thinking in terms of completing the curve.

It looks like you have plenty of wall space for big art. I'd choose something I love and pull accent colors from that. Blues look great with brown, as do just about any color you can think of. I wouldn't add anymore brown or cream.

I love adding color to neutrals like you have, so would add either deep red and/or orange pillows and throws. Simple to swap out when I get bored.

I'd add a large colorful area rug. I like patterns because they hide a multitude of sins, including messes left behind by cats.

I think curtains in a neutral texture would soften the window blinds. You could also replace the blinds with a blond wood for a more contemporary look.

With your comfy neutral major pieces you have many options. Begin with art or carpet to begin your color story.

I like the layout you have now. Maybe turn the chairs so they face the sectional a little more. Anyway, back to warm colors. Dark reds, deep purples, and forest greens are all what I would consider warm colors. The purple and green would look great with your furniture.

Brown and tan colors are often considered warm colors. The existing paint appears to be yellow (also warm). So instead of adding more warm I'd do some cool colors in the room with lots of patterns.....good luck...

Thanks everyone for your help!

if it's a basement with not much natural light - bring in some "light" with color! I like the layout - maybe add some accent pillows and some "conversation pieces" on the wall

As far as colors go--please do not add any more beige or brown. You need color--bright and bold-- here are some suggestions. Also I would definitely get rid of or relocate the otomon. Think how much more visually interesting the space would be with a colored table (wood or upholstered), Good Luck

Found artwork on etsy. Would something like these work?

I think your art choices are beautiful. Any one of them is a great start towards your color story.

Now comes the hard part, choosing what you like best. I'm a big fan of the warm reds in these and the lavender, green, or turquoise give you additional color options for accessories.
