Kitchen remodel help. Kitchen color is pretty but doesnt work!!!

Hi all,

I had my kitchen remodeled a couple months ago. Basically I picked the color without considering the rest of my house. (see family room pics). The family room is attached to my kitchen with a shared wall. It is painted bleeker beige by Benjamin moore. (only paint brand I will use) As you can see the family room has vaulted ceilings. Painting this room is not an easy thing to do. It has to be done by a professional. So, for now it has to stay.

I need your help. I am open to any color or decorating suggestions you can provide. I'm a big girl and take criticism.

Please take a look at the Quartz counter tops for inspiration on Color choices for this kitchen. I am just stumped. Should I paint it a neutral color or go with a color that will pull the entire space together. Could I get a way with painting the shared wall in the family room the same as the kitchen. Please help!!!

I would be open to painting the kitchen any color. I just don't want to go to dark. Curious if a Gray would work? Thoughts??

I agree with apple pie order. Don't think think grey solves the problem at all.

Okay, so to be clear you would paint the kitchen white where you see all the blue? To include the shared wall with the kitchen. Thanks!

Another question, if you could paint the family room would you paint it the same color as the kitchen. Any ideas?

I love the blue. You could paint the FR window wall only in that blue. Not much wall there. Hire a painter. It won't be much for just that wall.

I think the blue in the kitchen is rather pretty. The question becomes: which is more important the kitchen colour scheme or the scheme for the rest of the house? I'm not a fan of the blue sitting next to the beige.

As someone who HATES beige, I will naturally pull towards anything that is NOT beige. So my hat is being tossed into the 'paint it all the colour of the kitchen' side of the argument.

That isn't the solution you wanted to hear, I know...but the blue is really pretty. If your living room decor can handle the blue on the walls, then I would save up my pennies and plan to have the rest of the living room receive the paint that is currently in the kitchen.

You've just spent MONTHS agonizing over the kitchen. I would hate to see all the work washed away because the living space is hard to paint (read: expensive).

Thanks all! Cancork Floor inc. I am with you on the beige. I have way to much of it and its driving me crazy. I played the safe card and its just boring. So when I remodeled my kitchen I went with bright and fresh. Love being in my kitchen but not in the other parts of the house. I need to change that. I am truly open to any suggestions.

I would repaint the kitchen a color that complements bleaker beige. Maybe a cream color. I doubt you will find a blue that works with that warm color.

I wouldn't care for that all the blue in your great room also. You really like your blue so maybe cut it 75% for the great room.

Bring the colors together and carry from one room into the other. Find accessories that have both colors such as plates, or vases or placemats on the island seating. Use a pattern that has both colors and carry it through the spaces. I would go to Pier One or someplace where I could buy accessories and not have them cost a fortune. Put some pottery on the counters.

if you love being in your kitchen and hate the beige everywhere else, you've got your answer. a color wheel is always a great idea. looks like you will be hiring a painter. best to you.

You could go with something like Benjamin Moore Raintree CC-560. I used it in an old home and it went with just about everything and was very relaxing. I stick a bunch of paint chips on the wall and view them for a few days in varying light and slowly eliminate them.
