Gotta love this overcast weather. A few days shouldn't hurt them, might slow them down a bit but they're still getting sun, just not as much. Soil doesn't dry out as fast, so you'll probably want to water less frequently. Now a whole season of cloudy days is a whole nother problem entirely, but that's not likely to happen.

I, for one, like this weather. Beats pulling weeds in the 90 degree sun ;) And it's perfect for slowly hardening off tomatoes and peppers, as long as it doesn't hail.

Agree that a couple of days is no real issue. Longer periods would reduce photosynthesis some, slow root development, increase the internode lengths somewhat. A prolong period would be like trying to grow them in shade - long, leggy lanky stems with weak circulatory systems, decline in foliage production, inability to support fruit weight, blossom drop, decline in production, etc.

It's not as if you can do anything about the clouds. More sun, more growth. Less sun, less growth. That's about the size of it.

Even during overcast skies, plants get plenty of light for photosynthesis, maybe as much as under fluorescent lights. Plants use indirect light too.

So occasional cloudy skies should not be a problem. JMP
