Kitchen Countertop Price....Mind Blown. Help.

So, I was needing some advice for for a simple kitchen countertop replacement only. By simple I mean 138" long by a standard 25'' inch depth. There is an additional right angle of 3'. So basically an L shape with a total of approximately 27 sq. ft.

I quoted both Corian and Quartz not wanting to spend huge amounts of money and have been getting quotes of basically $2000 installed. This seems to be high to me and its very possible I'm out of the loop on the cost of countertops.

Please advise.

i don't think so, you have just been taking what you see on houzz and other such spots as the norm and believe it or not the majority of us still use laminate, no matter what we might say in public. just like over 1/2 of us do not have back splashes and there are still many vinyl floors. You do what is best for you and your bottom line. i promise i will never tell!;- )

The pricing you got is well within the normal range for solid-surface counter materials.

I just renovated my kitchen. I used quartz counter tops. I bought them through Costco. I had 36 sq ft & it ended up costing $2900.

I know IKEA also carries Quartz.

Price is in line. If you don't shop for those products for years it can be a sticker shock. Do what makes sense for your budget..... If you are thinking about resale, yes, nice countertops add lots of value at resale.

The least expensive quote I got for 31 sq. ft. was $2500 installed. The quartz I ended up getting is $3300 installed - includes installation of a farmhouse sink - but not the price of the sink.

Get a quote from Lowes and Home Depot for various types of countertops installed. We got granite for a far lower price than anywhere else, so I would think their price on these could be very attractive too. That's a pretty standard price. We were quoted around $82/sqft for Quartz (not the super basic ones but nicer patterns). If it makes you feel any better we have over 70sqft of counter, haha.

And 2 grand is about the base price here in Philly for marble/granite, etc. It's the price they all advertise to get you in the door (actually, $1995).

Not a bad price point at all (to "second" all the remarks above). In the DC Metro market, Silestone and Cambria projects range from $ 75 to 95 per square foot. If you are looking for a less expensive option granite is a great choice with more options available in a range starting from $ 30 per square foot and up.
