Tiny kitchen/dining reveal

Finally getting around to posting the completed renovation of my tiny kitchen and adjacent dining space. To recap, here was the original space:

kitchen:

Adjacent dining (door to kitchen is to the right of the brown armoire):

We removed the wall where the brown armoire was, and removed the single door that was in the kitchen space and placed a window there instead since we didn't need to adjacent doors leading to the same porch.

The small space did give us many limitations, but I am very happy with the finished space. It's very functional for its size and it's been working well for-us family of 5 with me as the primary cook.

basic design plan from overhead (this is the electrical plan but it's what I have handy):

Finished space:

Kitchen:

Thanks so much to everyone on this forum who helped me and gave me so much to think about and consider. It was a great help!

Navy Momma, I've been waiting for this reveal! Oh, ooooooh, I cannot comment in depth just yet...let me take it all in....

All I know is that it is good, very good. Great! I should say. I just am trying to remember the old layout and your other threads. I remember your inspiration photo with the turquoise fridge in a similar layout, right? It looks fabulous and let me just say....bravo!

You had such a great vision for this remodel. Would also like to see your sources. How long did it take from start to finish?

Pretty colors — very soothing. Great choice on the valance too. I think I remember you posting fabrics on the HD forum.

I loved the original door/window configuration, but you have managed to keep that charm and increase function. The built in banquette is wonderful. Great remodel!

I love the banquette and the colors and the tile. Can you share tile and counter materials?

    Beautiful space!!

    NICE!

glad you got the nice counter run right of sink....at least one good run can make a smallish kitchen work just fine. It's a good kitchen and you didn't scrimp on storage cabinets either.

Thanks, all. I don't think my photos are all that great- will try to get a few more in the daylight tomorrow. Also all under the bench seating is storage space (the bench tops lift up) for less often used items and I love it!

    sources:

cabinets: mid-continent cabinetry, painted maple, Jacobson style, flint lowers, white uppers.

counters: LG Viatera Quartz in Roccoco

hardware: restoration hardware "Quincy" pulls, schaub "Menlo park" knobs, polished chrome finish

faucet: delta Cassidy, chrome finish, with touch sensor

sink: emoderndecor 26x20 Ariel sink w/grid

backsplash- Adex ocean series 3"x9" crackle subway tile in surf gray, with "standard white" TEC grout

    Appliances are GE Profile.

wall color is BM Colorado Gray

window treatments were made from west elm "ikat gem" curtain panels in blue teal color.

lighting fixtures are both from Lowes (chandelier is a lower end version of kichler Brinley made by kichler for Lowes)

bench cushions are are outdoor patio cushions from Target in Navy.

dining chairs are ikea that I recovered the seats in navy sunbrella fabric.

the table I got on Craigslist for $100, it was a very orange oaky finish and I stripped and restained/painted it myself.

pillows are TJ Maxx (bird pillows) and Walmart (diamond ombré pillows)

rug at sink is from garnet hill.

my only real regret is I should have done a true hood over the cooktop. I was so obsessed with maximizing every inch of storage that I felt the OTR microwave was my only option. And it does vent to the outside and the CFM is high enough for my space. BUT the depth of the microwave means that the capture area does not include my 2 front burners which are my most used ones. It's not horrible, but if I could go back, I'd do a regular hood and a small microwave in the upper cabinet next to the fridge. I have empty upper cabinet space right now so I am not short on storage space. Live and learn....

It's beautiful, truly! You must have an eye for design. I love the combination of the upper & lower cabinet paint colors, the countertops & your backsplash. So pretty.

This is a fun one to see--well, they all are, but your planning process was particularly interesting and it's great to see the awesome final result. Congratulations on a great kitchen!

    Fabulous remodel!

Outstanding! Your design choices are authentic, fitting for the space and to a great scale. BRAVO!!!!

It's a compact space - but you have managed to make it welcoming and not confined.

    Such a great job!!!!
