I would suggest hanging window treatments as close to the ceiling as possible. I think roman shades, as pictured below with a beautiful pattern or texture would look really great in this space. It would also help to have a layer of solar shades under neath. They provide daylight to the space with giving you privacy that you want in a bedroom. The Shade Store is a good option for decent priced window treatments.

Ikea is also good for drapes on the cheap. Sometimes you can get good deals on drapes at Target or World Market too. IKEA and Target also have nice looking rods that are relatively good quality for decent prices.

Another option could be to make a feature out of the wall with curtains like one of these two images below

i think something like this would look beautiful in your home. i would suggest lighter bedding as well, to lighten up your room.

I really like what you've done so far. I don't know if you really need drapes though - the room is small and so are the windows. You do need some accessories to pull things together: side lamps, and artwork are the first things that pop in my mind. Like this for the windows on either side of your bed. Leave the third window undraped. (this is one of your inspiration pictures.) You could use semi-sheers if you like an airy look. It would be a nice light look to contrast with the dark colors in your furniture and bedding. You don't want dark or heavy drapes too, it would be too much dark.

I'm gonna throw my idea into this and say that look from partim is great if you have the ceiling height. Those curtains will seriously crowd out the space.

I think curtains would crowd it too and would prefer roman shades.

First of all, congrats on the new house, nothing is more exciting than see your own fruits of labor. Since you already have blinds, sheer panels or something light colored drapes will do the trick. Go to Home Goods and they have many selections of curtain rods and panels. Then add a pair of lamps will immediately warm up the room. Maybe add a couple of fun throw pillows to complete the bedding!

Yes, curtain panels on each side of windows, hung from ceiling and floor length will give them some weight in the room and make your windows look larger. Check out Rebecca Robeson on U-Tube. She is a designer and has some great videos on DIY bedroom projects. I like the color of your room.

What is on the windows now? Are those temporary? They look pretty good in the photos and fit well.

I have one observation and that is why you picked dark brown bedding with all the dark furniture. It comes over as one sea of brown. Since my boyfriend has the same bedding I bet yours did the picking of this item...
Your room can handle a lighter and more soothing color and would look more inviting that way.

Right now, all you need is some lightweight panels, hung high. The blackout shades will do for now or forever. You need some art, perhaps an upholstered chair in a third color or a color from the drapery panels. It's time to save some money and plan the future. Live in your place for a few months, and you will find out what you need next.

You can purchase panels and rods at a pretty good price. That is all you need. Your bedding is dark but if you can't change it, a white or beige throw draped across the bottom of the bed would look nice and lighten it up. Also need some lamps and art on walls.
It is very rewarding when you do the work yourself. Looks like you have done a great job. Just keep at it and buy what you really like. It might take time but it will be worth it.
