Help with backsplash...again

Hi everyone! I asked for help with this a while ago. I thought I made a decision, but now the counters have actually been installed so I am not just going off a sample. I am deciding between this small diamond shaped tile, white subway, or a line of white subway below the diamond tile. I am having the hardest decision with this!! Which do you like better?

I like them all, but what is that fabulous countertop?!

Your kitchen is going to be beautiful. Great choices so far.

Since your upper and lower cabinets are white, and pretty plain, I'd go with the small diamond shaped backsplash tile to add a little bit of interest. Best of luck!

I think they are both fab, it depends on your taste. The diamonds add more glamor, the subway timeless elegance.
If it were me, I'd do subway because the solid surface is a star!!
    Btw what is it?!

    The countertop is Polarstone Quartz

    Subway!!

Option 2 blows me away. It's perfect. Stunning. Complex. Subway with diamonds.

I think tedbixby has a good point with just using the diamonds to keep it less busy. Just wanted to add that the diamonds pull my eye straight to them vs. the countertops. It might just be the lighting, but in your first photo the diamond tile looks a lot lighter than the countertops. Interesting how we all differ, but I would pick what YOU like best.

Do the subway tile on the walls but get a tray made out of the tiny diamonds. Then you'll have the best of both without doing anything permanent. Prop the tray up over the cooktop or under the longest cabinet wall.

    diamonds by themselves

    every can't do subway

How about subway but use your diamond with a frame over stove? I really like the ledge/ niche!
Miacometlady - that is a really great idea!!
I think that would look D Cats meow!
Tedbixby has a point, if it isn't the monitor, go with a whiter subway tile, the one in the photo looks tired

    #1 Diamond + #2 Subway tile.

The subway with the inset over of diamonds over the stove sound gorgeous. The best of both choices. I would go with that. I don't know about going too white on the subway tiles though with the silver gray in the diamonds.

Are the diamond tiles marble? I love them with your gorgeous counter tops. Normally I'm a big fan of subway tile, but in this case I would go with all diamonds, which will look less busy once grouted with the lightest gray. If you mix with subway tile, I would use the marble subway tile.

Keep it all one or the other. Beginning to lean toward the diamonds for the whole area.

Diamonds. Hands down. I just ripped out a whole subway tile backsplash from my white kitchen because having three slightly different whites - cabinets tile countertops - drove me batty after a while. I went with a Carrara herringbone and am a million times happier.

I like both but when you put real marble next to engineered quartz, to me, you can tell right away which product is the real thing and which isn't. I am not a fan of putting real marble next to engineered quartz marble. So I'd go for the subway or find a diamond pattern that is not real marble. As others have suggested, the Subway may be too white. You could still use subway but perhaps a light gray subway tile. That would bring out the gray in your quartz.

I would go with a larger size subway tile, the pattern in the counter is large and any small pattern in the backsplash will look strange.
I agree with Ted Bixby - diamonds all over, without accent pieces. The variation in color is harmonious with your countertop without being the same and keeps the difference in materials interesting rather than discordant. It's a good idea to incorporate variations in scale into your design - a small pattern next to a large one adds interest and depth.

I think this is an on site decision, but that you have a lot of great choices above. I really like the diamonds, but I really like all the other choices too.

A line of white subway below the diamond pattern tile looks amazing!!
Another vote for the subway tile! Tho if you're looking to add some contrast to all the white, try a light gray glass subway tile. You'll still get the clean and classic look, but with a little more contrast to the cabinets

I was hoping adding the white subway border would break it up a little and make it less busy by not having the diamond not touch the countertop. I was thinking maybe do that and have the subway go up behind the sink and stove, with diamonds everywhere else.

I can't get the photo the be the right direction sorry. But it sounds like everyone thinks that idea will actually make it more busy instead of less.

i guess i prefer the subway, but my husband likes the diamonds. I do like the diamonds as well. I think they will either look amazing, or bad. does that make sense? and i'm sure the subway will look fine, so there is little risk involved.

I have trouble picturing the whole thing when its done.

Revisit miacometlady idea. A great one (IMO)

In my opinion I like the white subway tile, I think less is more. I wouldn't get to busy it takes away from the BEAUTIFUL countertop.

Be careful, Carrara marble can soak up grease and smoke and can stain very easily if you use it behind a stove. Otherwise I'd say use the diamond for some texture and interest. That's a lot of white.

    Good suggestion from miacometlady!

do you think if i seal the marble behind the stove it will still be a problem? I was planning to seal it all over.

love your countertops! I'd do the subway tile for the majority of your backsplash. Maybe add the diamond shaped mosaic over your range for added interest?

I love the shape and size of the diamond tiles, but your counters are so gorgeous, I would do the diamonds in a pale solid (not too white) which you would choose from your counters.

As a fan of simplicity this is strange coming from me, but since both tiles and counter look so great together, I suggest using both. This is one look using different tiles(the diamond would look best as accent imo)

I say the subway tiles and above the stove to have your diamond tiles framed in like this and if your going all out to have a faucet installed over the stove too!

Ahhhh yes...more marble tiles....ohhhh boy. We've had 2-3 Houzzers despair because of the INSTANT discolouration of their marble tiles...from COOKING OIL! One spent more than 12 HOURS applying paste and then washing it off. And that was only 1/2 way to being back to normal. She was beside herself!

Many marble experts say the tiles must be sealed PRIOR to install and then 3-4 times AFTER install....and then routinely sealed after that. And it will not stop all the cooking oil. It will slow it down considerably...but it won't stop it.

As beautiful as the marble diamonds are...the ease of the subway tile (read: lack of intense heartache later) would be my choice. Function before beauty (and the diamonds are REALLY BEAUTIFUL).

I agree the space behind the stove may be a little small. It is a 30 inch stove. Also there is a lot going on with the arch. I would probably only do that if I go with the white subway, then have a square of herringbone white subway. I really appreciate everyone's input on this.

Obsessing over your countertops!!! I would love to see finished photos of your beautiful kitchen! I am trying to decide between these polarstone Bianco or the or calacatta Vagli!

Here is the finished kitchen! Thanks for all of your help picking out my backsplash!

Beautiful! Love the pendant lights - where did you get those? Also considering a Polarstone quartz can you tell me how it is holding up (any stains/chips/etc.)?
