You need some color. No more brown, black and gray. Can you paint the nightstands and play down the black on the bed. The floor sounds nice and it's your biggest expense. Perhaps some denim blue area rugs. When I was furnishing my first home I was obsessing over finding a sofa to match the drapes when my husband finally said "why are we driving all over the state to match a $$$ sofa to $40 worth of fabric" So forget about the bedspread, etc.

It might be too much.

I would not add a dark color for the floor, due to the furniture being black - that would just be to much dark near the floor. Go for a large pattern with light taupe - try to get something in a style similar to the bedding. As the prior poster mentioned, a picture would help greatly.

Love to post a photo, but unfortunately house is not yet built and the room I have my stuff in now isn't at all like the new one to be flooring, furniture or otherwise. I will take the advice to lighten up rugs and bed covering...seems sensible

those are actually some that I saved to make a decision on later....i worried about the busy pattern fighting even more with floor grain and bed spread design...you could say I'm somewhat mixed pattern averse

i also think about keeping an ivory or off white toned rug clean as I am in a wheelchair quite a bit, and those dang black wheels turn everything black

here's what I had as my non grey/black choice though my flooring is more this tone (immediately below) than the one with the rug in it.

ah, i read you. do you know what i think you should do? you should go to a flooring store and get a rug there. they are quite inexpensive though i am sure that is not your issue, but you can get many colors and you get some of the softest rugs there. then you can a small piece or better two that you lay next to the bed to get out on. why fight it with the wheel chair? rugs are nice but not mandatory.

And the secret to a really soft rug? do not get shag. lay the sample flat, put your flat hand on it and push on the pile. a good soft rug will not split apart you will feel that pile under you hand and the same with your feet, it is so luxurious, you will not care what color it is.

rug you chose is nice, i have become averse to geometric there is so much. i can give you a few updates if you like though. I do not understand though you have no other patterns?

They are all good looking rugs thankyou folks. and yes I too do not like shags, a flat weave is preferable to me.
