Here are a few things in bloom here in Lawrence KS this week.

Full bush shot of Quietness

The new band of Umbra was blooming. The bloom was quite large but not very fragrant, hopefully that will improve next year.

Sleeping Beauty

Fairmount Proserpine. The bud for this blossom had been around for awhile, was getting battered and brown looking. I was convinced it was balled. I had my hand on it to remove it the evening before this pic, but for some reason decided to wait.

I really love your Belle de Crecy!! And it's super fragrant?!!! Yay!!! Umbra looks good enough to eat!

I was thinking of getting Sleeping Beauty, but I didn't. Can you tell me what you think of the rose, especially for fragrance, shape and bloomability.

I don't have problems with Sleeping Beauty. It has a short resting time between flushes and is fairly tolerant of the blackspot it gets. The fragrance is one of those centered in the stamens, so is strongest as the blossom starts to show its center. As a miniflora, the bush is fairly vigorous.

On another note, the next blossom of Umbra was a lot more fragrant.

I was just at one of our local gardens where Belle de Crecy was in bloom.... magnificent fragrance. It looks like I'll be returning shortly to see Belle Isis. I saw its tag and finally found it growing under some Baptisia. I hope it flowers as I'd love to see it.

Apothecary's Rose, looking rather battered by the rain

Sequoia Greenfield, also rather chlorotic. And since it is probably the rarest rose I own, I should definitely take good care of her since as far as I know she is irreplaceable...

Oshun..only half of this plant is chloritic lol. It is the best smelling rose open right now..

And while I was posting this, decided to try again to catch the actual color of Ebb Tide since the previous picture was a bit off.

aand, another pic of Sophie's Perpetual. The fragrance of this one has been more complex this spring than in previous years. It has usually had just a very nice sweet fragrance, but this year there are definitely anise undertones I hadn't noticed before.
