Are these two the same? Big Price Difference.

Was looking for a metal basket to put on the side of my fireplace. It's for decorative purposes and would hold things like birch logs.

I was about to order this from Pottery Barn for $179 then decided to do a search for Olive baskets from Turkey. I ran across this on Etsy and it appears to be the exact same bucket but for $44. That's a huge price difference for a bucket.

What do you guys think, legit? Should I order the Etsy one? If so, I'm considering ordering two in difference sizes.

Interesting. I have always heard these are olive buckets. I buy a good bit off Etsy. The sellers are rated. Same as ebay. I will only buy from those with the highest ratings. The only reason I would hesitate here is having something shipped from Turkey. I didn't check the shipping costs, but it would still be tons cheaper than PB!

An interesting thought - I have a friend who last year or the year before purchased several of these galvanized buckets at WALMART (!!) and painted and sold at a craft show. She painted them with either chalk or milk paint - can't remember. Not sure if Walmart would have them now, but if you are not wanting an antique, you might check it out. My friend also told me there is some chemical you can put on the galvanized piece to "age" it if you left it unpainted.

I actually have two galvanized ones that I got from Home Depot over Christmas for flower arrangements that I keep outside.

But I really like the size on and shape on these. It would work much better for what I want to do.

The idea of an antique in such a modern space (my fireplace is concrete) is definitely appealing as well :)

It appears to me that they're identical except that the one from Pottery Barn has been cleaned up a bit whereas the one from Etsy looks as though it just left the olive grove. For that difference in price you can polish it up yourself or just leave it au naturel. It you like this style, go for it.

Cool basket! The only difference I see is the size, although PB won't give you a firm size saying + or - 3" either way. They say the dimensions are 18"w x 20"h; Etsy is 16"w x 15.6"h. I'd prefer the larger if using for firewood, but even if you paid more at PB, you could still end up with the same smaller size as the one on Etsy. There are good reviews of the product and seller on Etsy, but will be difficult to return if you aren't pleased (I would think).

Navy mama- Lovely glass jars.. so pretty.

The PB one says; "Each is a one-of-a-kind found piece and therefore unique; dimensions range within 3 inches of average dimensions given, plus or minus." So they may very well be the same.

The company name/hallmark? is also the same on both.. hmm..

Ok, so I'm gonna do it, order from Etsy. There was one review that said the basket arrived damaged and the seller gave him a prompt refund. Figure I don't have much to lose.

Google..."galvanized olive buckets". Lots to choose from, the smaller ones are 19.95 at Target and Save on Crafts.

Here are some from Save on Crafts as Maddie said, it's one of my favorite online stores. Good prices too.

Several years ago, I bought the exact same olive basket at Tuesday Morning for $50. A year or so later, I saw it at PB overpriced. Get the best price. I love mine, btw!

Look what came in my email from Houzz today. [olive basket $69[(https://www.houzz.com/products/vintage-olive-bucket-harvest-bucket-prvw-vr~10863258) The description says it is the same as the one offered by a large home accessory store. If you are leery of ordering from the vendor on Easy, here is an alternative. BTW I has not seen the olive buckets; now it comes my way two days in a row.

maddielee, Oakley -I googled it and the ones I saw were about 6" smaller on average. I checked the Saveoncrafts link and I didn't see it? BUT, I did find another wider, smaller bucket that's really cute for my guest bath.

    Thanks for the link.

happy2b…gw - wow..but it's too late for me- already ordered from Etsy. I bookmarked the houzz one though in case the ones I get are damaged. Thanks for this.

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the size. I sure did see a lot of buckets and pitchers I want. Especially the red Christmas buckets that are at the bottom of the page. Yummy!

I am sure the buckets from Easy will be okay and I bet they are the same as Pottery Barn and Houzz. You got a deal.

I winded up getting three from SaveonCrafts (in different sizes).

So much I could do with them. Now thinking of using them on the light columns in front of my property. I have three columns and think these would look cute there with some pretty flowers. (ignore the red bow- it was Christmas)

Ellie, did you like the olive bucket from Etsy? Am considering buying one..... thanks.

    @Bluebell66

I did. Ordered two in different sizes, and prefer the larger one.

Also went to Pottery Barn hoping to see theirs and compare, but they didn't have the buckets at my local store.

Only thing is, the larger one is a little dented at the base. You can't see it, but you can feel it. Guessing it happened during shipping.

Either way, I would definitely buy from this seller again.
