What crab grass control product was used? My experience is that most of the crab grass control products will also kill the grass I want.

Alfalfa meal may help depending on the state of the soils Soil Food Web. If the soil is in a condition that supports an active Soil Food Web that will quickly convert the meal into nutrients the grass can use it will grow back quickly.

The only synthetic I use on the lawn is Scotts Step 1 for Seeding in the Spring ( just for the crabgrass control in it ). Other than that, I've been using alfalfa meal and corn meal for the past 2 years. Think I'll put the alfalfa down with a little extra on the white patches and hope it grows out soon! Or maybe half alfalfa / half corn would be a faster boost?
