If properly prepped the paint will adhere. are they in use or only for looks.

Krylon has spray paint for plastic. I have used it on plastic lawnshairs, and it works well. You would, of course, have to take them down from the house. I don't know how many you have to paint, but to cover marroon with white may take a couple of coats/cans each. Might be cheaper to just buy new.

Or, you might see if there is a bonding primer that works on plastic. Kilz brand seems to carry something for everything, but just ask at your local home store for help.

handyman is correct about the primer. If you do not find a color you like with the plastic paint just use the primer and pick any Krylon or othe paint color. One note if you read the plastic paint can it will recommend that you use a primer anyway ( whats the point of having plastic paint if you need a primer ). Have painted all my shutters and they last me only about three years before they need to be repainted due to direct sun most of the day.

Honeapathsc, I had a similar experience with plastic paint. Applied properly and over primer, it not only faded after a few years, but flaked in areas more heavily exposed to the elements.Maybe the question becomes short term fix vs. longterm?
