Hi - I'm also in the same boat, and would appreciate if you could share what you eventually decided. We have over 80-90 cans, and the price difference is huge!

The edison connector/ socket is generally not considered title 24 compliant since you can fit an incandescent bulb in.

The lamp (bulb) and housing are 2 separate items.

The main points to consider when selecting a down light are

1. Efficiency as expressed in lumens per watt.
2. Dimming performance 5% lowest or 10% or not dimmable.
3. Color Rendition Index - measure of how objects look when illuminated by the light source.
4. Whether the light dispersion is narrow or broad/ diffuse.
5. Color temperature.
6. Glare when looking at the light.

Although I cannot be sure of the lighting and all lines of this company I could only tell you that I bought some wrap around shop lights that have a 3-inch cord and they offer no extension which makes these lights completely useless to me but I have not seen any other complaints from other purchaser so I might be alone in My Views but after questioning the company about their limited use of these lights I was assured they were going to make extension cords only to be told 6 months later that they don't know where I heard that from her that they're not going to offer extensions so I can only give this company a low rating if any they seem to be unwilling to meet the customer demands even if it means more revenue for their company

Although they did promise to reimburse my purchase price well after warranty expires only due to their misleading information but are yet to find out if this will actually be done so I'll get on top of it and post if they actually perform which would be appreciated but I'd much rather them fit the needs of the customer rather than the customer having to fit the needs of the company

I bought 6 down lights for remodel. the pancake lights. and all 6 are out already and it’s only been a year. Customer service was great and replaced them, but still. there is a 7 year warranty on them so i will see how these new ones do. And if these go out I guess I’ll get more new ones, but what a pain.

Sunco product is made of plastic. That is a major problem because plastic does not allow for heat to dissipate. They will look great when first installed but no doubt will start to dim and eventually fail completely. Heat is the number 1 enemy of LED lights. Sunco doesn’t have a ground wire, which is how you know it doesn’t have a metal body. Look for a light with an aluminum body and a ground wire. Halo makes some but you need to be careful because they too have a plastic model. Halo tries to compensate by driving less energy to their polycarbonate units, but you are much better off spending a bit more to get the quality and heat dissipation of the aluminum body.
