Need help with backsplash design

I'm at the end of a kitchen remodel. The backsplash is partially installed. We are using 3 x 6 Carrara Marble subway tiles. We have an unusual kitchen shape. The backsplash is going to go all the way to the ceiling on the wall with the window. It is also going to cover the entire wall where the cooktop is. The vent is fairly large, so that will take up most of that wall visually once installed. Our problem is the outside corner.

The question is: should we turn the corner and put some tiles on the wall where the peninsula countertop is or leave that wall blank? Options I have been thinking of would be two tiles high, just under the outlet? Or 4 tiles high and go just above the outlet. Also, would it end flush with the counter?

Thank you for your input. This forum has been consulted many times during this remodel. It has been tremendously helpful.

Visually, I'd say no tiling. However for ease of counter cleaning, that wall should not be painted with a flat paint. (If it is.)

I wouldn't tile. Think of it as a dining space, totally separate from the kitchen.

I would want to move the switches closer to the door so I could hang art.

    I agree-don't put anything there.

(This forum helped me to make a tiling decision along these lines lately, btw..I read here, and looked at the pictures, and then I grabbed some books I've got and looked at the pictures there again..:))

    PS beautiful tiles

Thank you for the input! Most of the questions/decisions that came up along the way could easily be answered by looking around at others questions and discussions in the forum. I was unable to find a solution to this one as the layout is unusual. We were leaning toward not putting tile there, but I was concerned it would look unfinished. I am happy to know that everyone felt the same when looking at the pictures.

mayflowers - I tried to have the switches moved early on, but the three switches together would not fit between the studs closer to the door. I also wanted them lower, but there was existing things in the wall and that was the original height and location. So I'm stuck.

    Another vote for no tile.

It's going to look amazing with it all the way to the ceiling!

Nice kitchen. Another vote to not tile that wall, but you can paint it an accent color, including the door.

you could possibly use a quarter round in the same material to finish off the seam between counter and wall. love it. looks amazing.

Thanks for taking the time to let me know what you think. Tile is finishing up tomorrow. We are going to skip the tile on the peninsula wall. For the finish edge on the outside corner we were going to polish the edges of the tile and keep it fairly square. I wanted a quarter round, but my husband won that coin toss.

I appreciate the advice and encouragement. We still have to paint and the door needs a makeover, possible replacement. We have to see how the makeover goes first. Lots of loose ends to finish up, but close to the finish line.

Done with backsplash. Thank you for the help. We ended up not putting anything extra on the outside corner and polished the side edge of the tile.
