Adjoining rooms

My husband and I are in a 1960s fixer upper ranch house. Our dining room, which is being used as a piano room, and our living room, which is being used as an office, are side by side. Would you use same curtains in both room? Also what is the best way to coordinate an area rug with the curtains?

Pick the rug first. Then the curtains. Line the curtains to improve acoustics.

If you can stand in the hallway and see into both rooms, then it's a good idea to have the same or very similar drapes. And not sure what you meant in your question....your area rug can pick up some of the color in the drapes but should also coordinate with your furniture, wall color etc. Do you have these items yet ? If yes, can you post a photo or do you need help choosing some?
