HELP!! Crown molding problem

Oh please offer suggestions or solutions. I'm right in the middle of a major remodel. The next thing on the agenda is adding crown molding and window trim throughout the house. The arched window in the dinning room is too high. The crown molding I'd like to use is wider than the space between the top of the window and ceiling. Even if I went with smaller crown, there still isn't enough room to do crown AND window trim. Moving the window is not an option. I just can't get into that expense. Please offer suggestions. Thank you!!

I don't know how you would add window trim to this. I would just use a crown molding that fits above the window. You can do a slightly smaller molding for this room and use a larger one in separate rooms if you need to.

The house has such an open plan that I would just have to use a small crown all over. Not really a stopping point. I guess that's what I'll have to do, and skip the window trim...which really stinks. Unless anyone else has any other ideas?

Because this window has virtually no trim, maybe someone out there in Houzzland has an idea that would give the window some power: maybe a trim that goes from wide and simple below and on the sides, but combines with the wider molding you want to use at the ceiling to form an impressive top treatment. We could use a few more pix to see what your style and furniture choices might call for. What is the actual measurement from window to ceiling? Don't give up yet! It needs something, but many of us have opinions to give you.

Also consider whether you are planning to use drapes. They would cover most of the window sides.

I just dove out of bed because I think I just came up with an idea!!! How about I have the trim guy build a cornice out and around the window and then I hang drapes from behind it (drapes just on the sides)? I found these pics quickly so not exactly like this, but kinda. All the way up to the ceiling though. Thoughts?

I have exactly the same problem! There's only 6 inches from the ceiling to the top of the window (not arch though, just rectangular). I could do skinny window trim and skinny crown moulding, but just doesn't look nice. What did you end up doing?! Thanks.

Without much space, it works best to combine the moldings.
