Any chance you'd be willing to learn how to sew? Fabric stores have SOOOO many choices and you can pick up pillow "innards" pretty inexpensively.

dealing with a leather couch means that you need a certain heft to the fabric, and texture, so they don't feel too poofy to settle in. do you think you are having trouble with weight as well as color and print?

the advice to 'learn to sew your own' is great *but* you do have to know what you want and have a sense of how the fabric feels on the bolt, even more than ready made ones. light cottons won't cut it, head for the wide rolls of home decorator fabrics. but i'm thinking if you are having this trouble assessing pillows before you bring them home then you do not want a stack of unreturnable pieces of cut fabrics.

Not sure of your decor preferences, but if you search on "kilim" or "dhurrie" pillows, you might find a lot of complimentary, but different choices. A decorator once said that you should not buy pillows under 20 x 20 inches for your main decor pillows and I tend to agree. I have 2 pillows on each of my couches that are that size or bigger, and then some other complimentary pillows that are just a bit smaller. Consider pairing patterned pillows with solid ones. Good thing with pillows is that they are easy to return. :-) I think that the right pillows can really make a huge difference in a room. Good luck!
