Reclaimed wood mantel height help (Stone Fireplace)

Trying to give contractor exact height of mantel (top of mantel) from the floor. The mantel is 75" long, about 9" deep and about 9" tall. Stone is going to be 82" wide. Ceiling height is 10' tall. The hearth is not raised. I hope this makes sense! thank you!

Is your fireplace a pre-fabricated unit, or traditional masonry? If it is masonry, the bottom of the mantel must be 12" above the opening. If it is a pre-fab unit, you would need to verify the clearances with the manufacturer.

thank you! It is masonry, but to be clear, I think you are saying there has to be a minimum of 12" above the opening....that is no problem, I am just wondering how high. 12" above would be waist height; way too low.

cbianchini, it's impossible to say without seeing the whole wall. Minimum clearance is probably 12", but you need to decide what height makes the whole wall balance.
