Kitchen Reveal

last modified: 10 years ago

Thank you so much GWers. I've been a long time reader/dreamer, and occasional poster. I finally have my new kitchen. We still have a few odds and ends to do, in addition to painting. (We are doing other areas of the house so the painting has to wait.) I love how the kitchen turned out for the most part.

Cabinets - omega dynasty - uppers are walnut with pumice stain, lowers are cherry in smokey hills

Radiator - runtal

Faucet - Kohler sensate with black accents

Sink - DXV (American Standard) Hillside SS

Bosch appliances

Cabinet Pulls - Amerock Riva satin nickle

Backsplash - Whisper in Perla

Floor - white oak stained miniwax weathered oak

Stools - Graph by Gus Modern

Granite - white persa

Undercab lighting from Lowes

I love the counter height window, my 10 " deep pantry and all the drawers. I am disappointed with the sink (getting the food down) and the quality of the cabinets.

Beautiful. Why are you disappointed with cabinets? Can I see the inside of pantry? Wondering how 10" deep looks.

What a change! So sad to hear you are not happy with the quality of your cabinets. What are you unhappy with in terms of the quality ? I have Dynasty Omega in my bathroom and love them, and we are using them for our upcoming kitchen reno as well.

Your kitchen looks great. Love your counter with your cabinets. What a wonderful window in your kitchen.

Here are the pics of pantry. The inside is actually 10.5". I love that I can find everything.

Regarding the quality of the cabs, I am not happy with the finish. I keep seeing small areas where the finish is worn and I see raw wood. I also see little dents, and I am not hard on things. I have to say that we had someone out to fix a damage - which you cannot notice now and one door was replaced.

It's beautiful!! All your choices compliment each other - the faucet, the cabinet hardware, and the cabinetry finishes with the stainless appliances. Love, love the backsplash. I don't usually find myself noticing the refrigerator, but what a great looking frig!

Thanks for sharing. Can they touch up the small dents? It really does look beautiful. You made some nice choices!

Well you're looking closely at the cabinets but I think they look great as does the rest of the kitchen. I love the choice of colors and the overall contemporary feel with just a hint of tradition.

One question? I notice you have the Bosch side opening door, but it looks like it's opening not to the counter side. May I ask why you did that?

Beautifully done. Love the stain colors!

Do you see the worn finish look more on the Pumice cabinets? I know that is more of a sheer stain, but you certainly should not see raw wood; I hope they are able to fix your areas of concern. Great storage in your kitchen - wish I had room for a pantry like that...serious pantry envy here! I am doing the same upper cabinet over my ovens as you did, and have also chosen the same Bosch right arm swing oven - hope you love yours! What install height did you end up with for your lower oven?

I love your kitchen. It is very well done. Looks huge. My kitchen, 80% there, is sooooo small I can't even fit a camera in there to take a photo.

Love the cabinet color and your backsplash is a beautiful shade.

What is the interior drawer height of your flatware/knives drawer and your cooking utensil drawer? Ours are only 3" and 3.5" high (interior measurement) and I'm wondering if organizers like that will work for our drawers.

Wow, I learn something new every day - Excel graph paper. I am so on that!

Keagle, the more I look at your pics - beautiful job. I so want to do a cabinet with the wall lift hinges like you used on either side of your range hood; love the look and access. Question - is your cook surface induction? I ask because I am curious about your large utensil drawer - love it.

Thank you everyone. I love sitting at my peninsula and admiring everything, especially with the morning light.

cpartist, we switched the placement of the oven in our final design, after we bought the appliances. The door opens all the way (180) so it hasn't been a problem.

lisa7242, yes I love my oven. The lower oven measures 42.25" from the floor to the top of the display panel, the top of the oven door is 36.25" from the floor, the bottom is 14" from floor. I am only 5' so I didn't want the top oven to be higher than 62". The cooktop is the 36" (actually measures 37") frameless bosch induction 800 series. I love it!

Lisa G, my interior drawer is 3.25" high. DH trimmed the sides of the drawer under the cooktop to slightly less than 3" so you should not have a problem. I purchased my drawer inserts from Amazon and Home Goods.

mark_rachel, thank you. I am so happy with the backsplash. We originally were planning on glass subway tiles and then came across these. DH installed it -1st time- and did a great job. I had posted a short time back that I was unhappy with the grout color since it dried lighter than expected. GWs told me to live with it for awhile and as usual, great advice. I love how the tile color varies during the day as the natural light changes. Previous post

Rosann P - after searching and searching and reading and reading about various brands of appliances, I came up with a list and then I went to look at them. Narrowed down my options and read some more. Then checked price. Bosch was offering a rebate at the time and I wanted a side opening oven. We didn't plan on all being one brand but it worked out that way.

Looks great. Love the backsplash. I considered that one also. I think I would have preferred that to the glass I chose. Live and learn. Those are very interesting "before" pictures. Who wallpapers a door?

I was curious about whether the cooktop was induction because I was told that you need more space under the unit (9"?); as such I was not planning to have a thin drawer there. Something for me to follow-up on!

I am a good friend of your older sister and she would give me updates on your kitchen renovation and after finally getting to see it I just wanted to say your new kitchen came out fabulous! The transformation from the before to now is amazing. I know you must love your Bosch induction cooktop and wall ovens because I redid my kitchen a couple of years ago, and got a lot of my ideas from the wonderful ladies of the gardenweb forums, and I also have a Bosch induction cooktop and Bosch double wall ovens. My induction cooktop is over 9 big drawers like yours too. In fact our style is very similar and since I love my kitchen I can't help but love yours as well! Congratulations and enjoy cooking in your new kitchen!
