Congrats, Kim! Wish my shepherdii could take the hint and set buds for me. I do see some new growth on it, so hopefully that will end up with a budding peduncle that doesn't blast and die.

I spied some little green buds forming on the multiflora cuttings you sent me not long ago. I hope they make it. That reminds me, I have to water it, because when I looked at it, I also felt the soil and it was pretty dry.

Try not to let that one dry out, mine will blast buds and leaves if I forget about watering. Otherwise it is a pretty easy going plant, just likes to be wet. A self watering pot would work for this one even. Kind of like H. bella, never want it to ho completely dry.

I am super glad it is budding! Do not be too upset if it blasts, once they have an active peduncle they just keep on going! Even if it loses the peduncle, you will have another one soon. I thought mine was done blooming, then found another peduncle of buds. Looks like they opened last night too. :D. I think mine has active blooms about every 4-6 weeks, maybe less.

I gave her some water today :). I am keeping an eye on it as the days go on. We've had a lot of cloudy, rainy weather lately, but the sun is slowly working it's way back into the forecasts. Once it gets larger, I'll get a self-watering pot for it. Oddly enough, when I had it on my heated seed starter, I discovered that it was not plugged in all winter lol, and yet, most of the cuttings I put there rooted (I also used rooting hormone, but that doesn't always help).

So happy that it's a willing bloomer. The only other Hoya that I've had be that active of a bloomer for me was the standard lacunosa. That's one plant I really miss. I keep hoping to find a huge hanging basket of it every time I go to Lowe's, but to no avail. I did find Ruby Sue or Royal Flush once at my local Wal-Mart, which was awesome.

I might be wrong, but I think there is another peduncle coming, on the second cutting. Squee!

Hurray for flowers! They smell nice too, delicate, floral with a hint of musk. Love this plant. And my bella is still in full bloom, as are all three of my African violets, my Epiphyllum cactus has a bud, and my javanica is busy producing more buds.

Very pretty, Kim. You have a blooming bonanza going on! My only blooming hoya right now is a lacunosa I bought full grown from a nursery near me. It was labeled as a caranosa. It's a pretty upscale nursery where I usually go just to get ideas which I imitate with plants from HD or Kmart. The only other plant I bought there was a half price numm that was labeled pubera. They're 0-2 for identifying Hoyas. lol

Kim, how do you get your Epiphyllum cactus to set buds?

Mine look pretty good and get fertilized regularly but I have trouble getting them to bloom.

They are inside in a Southwest facing window.

I have tried, in the last few months to remember to fertilize weakly weekly and they are doing much better with lots of new growth.

I have five but only one has ever bloomed. It had two flowers last year.

Mine is in a West window, the bud is on the side away from the window. Not sure it is entirely happy there, maybe a bit too much light.

I just got it recently, not sure how old it is but it is huge. I have some Miracle grow bloom booster, fed it that and then had a bud a week later. I have heard the bloom booster can cause a bad phosphorous buildup, so plan to flush this pot pretty good but for now I am using up what I have. 1/4 strength solution. Hope yours blooms for you soon!
