I would pull a color out of the drapery as an accent wall, or change drapery if you want to go with a shade of red (but definitely not stop sign red).

I don't think a red accent wall would complement the current bedding and curtains. I would consider changing the bedding and curtains to styles that are more modern and streamlined to complement each other and the bed. If you're inclined to do an accent wall, you could then choose a color that complements the new bedding and curtains.

My other option was golden...but I feel the headboard might not go too well with it and defeat the purpose of accent wall. what colours wpuld ypu suggest from the drapery that go well in both summers and winters...?

I wouldn't use red in the bedroom..not calming..Your bed is modern and then you have the drapes that seem very traditional. Is there a style you are going for?

I agree....but I am not planning on changing either for now. I might bring it all together by items on night stand paintings etc..but unfortunately no plans to change either of these.

Where is your bedding to me it looks like there are just sheets on the bed.I always use the bedding as the way to develop a color scheme right now the drapes go with nothing in the space IMO so I would work on that first. As for a red wall as mentioned to much energy for a bedroom.

I love green in a bedroom. Use the light green for the walls and the darker green for the trim.

I think the headboard is mounted a bit too high on your wall.

I really think if you just changed the drapes to more modern (loops or rings) would make a huge difference in the bedroom. Get rid of sheers. Your headboard is very modern and drapes are too traditional. If you changed out the drapes then you could pick up a dark gray from the bedspread to paint behind the wall

I would not do red. We had it in our master and it was very bright and not peaceful at all.

I would select a much more calm color. Red is too hot for the bedroom.

I spent many years in a bedroom with a red wall. I chose the color and did not regret it. I never understand when I hear people make the energy remark.

I like your curtains! I would go with a blue that is in your curtains.

Another one who had red and wouldn't advise it. A blue from the curtains would look nice and then you could you golden accents. I like the pattern of your curtains!

I am also cotemplating doing damask stencil on one wall behind headboard. somthing in golden...to go along withe the curtain pattern....any thought?

I'd work from the drapes. Paint all the walls a pale shade of the green in the panels, put a cream duvet and shams on the bed, and replace the white sheers with bamboo shades to echo the texture of the headboard a bit. A simple update would be to hang the drapes from rings--get the kind that allow the existing hooks to slip into the rings.

Looking at your closeup shot of the drapes,,I would pick the medium blue that is in them for the wall. That would look great with your headboard.

This color would work with your curtains. I have my whole bedroom painted this color, and I love it.

I had it in my bedroom, which I will post. It was so warm and cozy, and would great with your drapes which has reds/pinks. My drapes ...a Ralph Lauren red paisley.

If you like red, and want to use it in the bedroom, maybe you can do some removable accents with it. I have a red bedspread that I love, and it is tucked away when I go to bed so as not to be distractive.

so far...coat 1 done. I chose Ralph Lauren bkue n so far this looks royale. let's see how 2nd coat makes it look like. The headboard will go against blue wall n will then need to choose accents, walk art, bedspreads etc...any ideas?

No on Red for the Bedroom. Anti Feng Shui principles. Elicits a feeling of excitement. Choose calming color for feeling of Peacefulness. Ask which part of yourself likes red. Ask another part of yourself what other colors you like. Identify all your very favorite colors. Then ask each part of yourself why they like their particular color. You will find that perhaps your lively and exciting self loves red, your reflective and intuitive self likes a clear blue and so on. Once you know why you like a color it makes the deciding much easier. And fun. Good luck

okay I promise last pic...lol. just wanted to share with all who gave their advice and help!

I love the drapes. Build on those colors. Maybe the green or gold would be more soothing for an accent wall and maybe cream walls instead of white. The accent wall color could reappear in a bed skirt. You can add a nice rug, some art, maybe a comfortable chair, and of course a comforter or duvet on the bed.

Soften the walls with a beautiful neutral like Sherwin Williams Barcelona Beige (more of a taupe) and then accent the wall behind bed with Antique Red. I think they will both go nicely with your drapes. :) Caryl H.
