Need help with family room color

My family room is a separate (large) room over the garage painted a red shade (I'm tired of it and want a change One wall is bookcases (entertainment centre) painted cream and also a black fireplace on the same wall. I would like to change it to something neutral... what color would go well with the cream woodwork. My sofa is beige sectional.

Cream. Darker or lighter. And get a couple of cream cushions on to your beige sectional, together with others. More than that I cannot say without a picture to look at.

Cream and beige may sound wrong, but they can work beautifully.
