I wouldn't change a thing. It looks perfect the way it is. May I ask what it is about the current color and backsplash you don't like?

Really? This is a wonderful kitchen that someone just likely remodeled recently, and spent a lot of money on it! If you look all over hours, you will find several kitchens as "kitchen of the week"!

It is a beautiful kitchen. Is it too boring because it all blends together? I am surprised that they used stainless ovens and didn't make the stove a center piece as it looks like it could be one of those new/antique style. I would think more on the lines of making a focal point of the hood or the bookshelf to pop out instead of a costly and very dirty job of the back splash. Just a thought.

I meant the glass cabinet and hood. The backsplash is such a messy and costly job and won't be a problem if you find what color you are really wanting. Sometimes I get big pieces of white poster paper and paint them the color I want then cut and tape them to what I want to change. You may save a lot of time, mess, money and work by changing the two carved pieces I mentioned and get what you like.

Sounds like you haven't moved in if you can't provide current pics. I would move in and live with it for a bit, unless there is something that we can't see, like the paint is peeling.

Kitchen seems to be a bit more traditional then the rest of the home. The overglazing finish is a bit dated now.

You could do a taupe/greige glaze over all the cabinets, or just the bottom cabinets to keep the space light.

Your other option is to update, modernize and replace the cabinets.

Please stop with the outdated talk! Are we all supposed to "update" our homes every 10 years so we aren't labeled as being outdated? This kitchen is beautiful and looks like it was designed precessionally. I hope you keep it.

DiggingInTheDirt..................I try to tailor my comments to what I see in front of me on this forum. There are plenty of of posters here that have what might be considered dated plain builder grade oak kitchen cabinets, which we all try to find the very best design solution for without resorting to tell them to remove or upgrade the cabinets.

However, this poster's new home was listed for $2,3 million, and I thought it was safe to assume that she was asking for some recommendations appropriate to the price level of her home.

BTW provided funds permit, taking a hard look at your home every 10 years isn't a bad idea. For most people it's their largest asset, and updating sensibly, maintains or increases the home's value.

2.3 Million, yeah you could probably afford to gut the kitchen and start over if you like. The property is listed as still for sale. Beautiful place, but I would update the accent wall in the bedroom and the smaller bath as well.
