Perhaps someone with experience with tree peonies could advise me. I planted Krickles last fall, and made sure to plant it very deeply, as I had read that was best with tree peonies so they will form their own roots. Perhaps I planted it TOO deeply....it sticks out about an inch or so from the ground and has looked for some time as if it wants to burst into leaves but just doesn't seem to be able to. I live in Illinois, zone 5, and I actually have a couple of tree peonies (older ones) that are starting to bloom right now. Did I do something wrong with planting so deeply, and if so, is there anything I should do now? I hate to dig it up but don't want to lose it either.
