Is it worth the price ?

It depends. Do you have other ovens (such as a speed oven or convection microwave)? Do you cook for large groups of people where you need a second oven? How many times per year? Some people prefer to buy two single ovens so that they can be replaced individually (but then they won't match). Two single ovens will cost more than a comparable double oven. What I would not do is buy an integrated unit that has a microwave and a single oven; I'd definitely buy those as separate pieces.

I do a lot of cooking. Currently have 12 year old GE Monogram double wall oven. The wolf is almost three thousand more than a new Monogram. I'm looking at the M series pro in the wolf. Also concerned about the convection fan noise.

I would look at Miele and Gaggenau and compare to Wolf. Also read threads on Wolf wall oven porcelain chipping off -- unclear if this is still an issue.

Here is a link to a thread on the class action: http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/3242963/wolf-lawsuit-filed-july-9-2015-regarding-blue-porcelain-chipping?n=43

Here is a recent thread on the "M" with other links in this thread.

    M Series

I think that you have to look at how you cook and use your oven. Many like the Miele or Gaggenau as rococogurl mentioned above. They have many modes that control the direction of heat and speed of fans. They are much more complex than Wolf, who seems to be going backwards in that respect having discontinued the "convection bake" mode in the "M". I think this was the most useful of the convection modes. There is a learning curve in seeing how these modes fit into your cooking style.

The other option might be Bosch or Electrolux. There are some threads on Bosch but not as much on the new Electrolux model. I have an older Electrolux and I love it. It bakes as well as the oven in my Wolf DF range. The Electrolux IQ model looks about the same as the older model( single fan and bare metal racks) and would most likely be my choice if buying now. The new model "wave touch" has dual fans and the racks are coated with the blue porcelain so they can stay in the oven for self clean. I like my Electrolux so well, that those changes would come under "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The only problem I had was with the blue porcelain but it is much cheaper to fix than Wolf. Mine was fixed under an extended warranty and I have had no further issues.

I have had the M Pro for just a year now and I really like it. It does make noise, but I don't think it is excessive. All ovens make noise. I had the e series and it had the chipping porcelain so I replaced it with the M. The price is high but it is a good oven and I am pleased with it. I don't miss the convection bake feature, I just use the conv. feature and it works fine.

I don't have much experience with other ovens, but the wolf oven is impressive. It didn't hurt that a wolf chef cooked me a fantastic meal. The steam oven with probe cooked a wonderful beef tenderloin.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I've decided to go with the wolf M Pro. I spoke to many appliance dealers and the consensus was wolf. I have to wait for the cabinet maker to build a wider box to accommodate this oven and then I hope I will be happy with my decision.

We have had the single M oven since the start of the year. It bakes very well and evenly. It does make noise, primarily when you go about 450, but i wouldnt say its invasive. We do not appear to have any issues with any chipping, but we also have not done a self clean. Is it worth the thousands you pay for the oven? probably not, but that is a personal thing. I am sure there are cheaper brands that do a good job you would also be happy with if you were on a tighter budget. But for us, after all the research i did, i could afford it and very happy with the purchase.

Thanks to all. I am now agonizing over beautiful Calacatta marble countertops

Well, don’t agonize, just don’t do it. Marble is a terrible surface for a kitchen. It stains, it chips, it has to be sealed regularly. If you want the marble look, go with quartzite. It is a natural stone, unlike quartz, which is a composite. It comes in light colors that look very much like marble, but it’s heat proof doesn’t chip as easily and is not porous. Good luck!
