Azalea reduced flowers?

I have two potted azaleas that have always bloomed prolifically. However, the leaves were yellowish and not very abundant. So, I read somewhere that coffee grounds would green up the leaves and I added coffee grounds. Now, not many blooms and I find that too much nitrogen (coffee grounds) can cause lack of blooms. How do I remedy the coffee grounds...try to scrape it out or is there something I can add to counteract the nitrogen of the grounds?
