Quite a while back I planted a bunch of beans in the little plastic tray starters, being very new to growing things and not realizing that beans don't like transplanting. After a while I transplanted the healthiest looking ones into slightly larger newspaper pots. I put those out in my yard about a week ago.

The remaining ones I took to my mom's house to plant there. I saw more on them, decided they were a complete loss and completely forgot about them. I went over there yesterday and saw them and they (shockingly) looked pretty healthy so I brought them home and stuck them in the ground.

They were incredibly rootbound. I didn't really think about it as I plopped them into the ground because I was just trying to get them in before it started raining.

I honestly don't see how they can possibly live. My soil is clay and all I did was break it up a bit and slap the little guys down in near the fence. They have so much against them. My question is can those small root balls fight their way into the soil and live? I tend to think I'll give them a chance, but probably plant some okra there when it gets warmer.
