The Ground Under Cedar Trees

Our hand is being forced to "clean" up a small residential front yard containing a cluster of 4 large cedar trees.

My goodness, friends, the ground beneath probably hasn't been touched for more than 20 years. It's absolutely beautiful. Stunningly gorgeous as a decades-old forest floor. I absolutely HATE having to uncover the ground.

But, of course, when the neighbor walks his dogs so they can take a crap (in my yard), he wants something else to look at besides overgrown cedar trees. Having used the city as pawns to their mental machinations as losers do, I'm forced to "clean up' this area which includes trimming these cedars and raking up underneath the trees.

I wish the trees weren't so big, I'd place a clear border as boundary and leave the natural mulch.

Otherwise, what's the best use of this goodness that I'll be getting? My soil is alkaline elsewhere. Can I bag it and save it for next year when I'll plant berry bushes?
