Both selections are far too busy with your counter tops. A VERY small stone mosaic with tones from the top may work. It must be small and tonal, or it will get busy. A simple subway in a very soft beige could be fine as well. Frankly, the single best option is to repeat your granite on the splash. One star of the show: )

I like the second photo. It gives ur cabinets a rich look.

If you like the tin tile look, there is a paintable textured wallpaper that can give the same affect and is very inexpensive. It is also easy to apply and remove should you grow tired of it. I am concerned that the tin look you are thinking of is too dark - might make your kitchen dark. The tiles you have pictured are too busy - I am seeing less and less of that look.

I am not sure if these are pics of the wallpaper, the look is very similar. Available at Lowe's and possibly other home center stores. You could paint it any color that would look good with your cabinets - I'd probably go with a cream as white would be too stark.
