My recommendation is to hang a framed mirror. That will give the feeling of a larger space. Then on the angle that is on the right side perhaps a few small framed art pieces, one on top of the other. That will help draw you into the rest of the space.

Thank you. What about paint color? Would you go darker than the livingroom? I'm thinking a few shades darker than Stonington Gray, which is color for the living room. And the mirror is great. And should the door be white or a bright color?

In addition add an eye popping mat at the door, or runner(looks like there is a rug in 2nd picture).

Love white dove! Then add a large, but not deep mirror to one wall. That will help expand the look of the space and it'll be great for a last check before you go out the door

I think a bit of drama in the entrance is always a nice welcome.

It looks rather narrow to have a table ,opt for art and a mirror .

Laura, Sorry for just getting back. You've had some good ideas here. I love the idea of a runner. Regarding your paint - I also like White Dove. It is hard to recommend to you a door color without seeing the rest of your home. In general, I would like a color. Perhaps you can select one that compliments what you have. Just be careful to select one that reflects light rather than absorbing light. I would not want to create a dark space.

I'm going to go with the White Dove for all the trim, including the door. Maybe later, I'll change the door color. I'm attaching photos of the living room and dining room. Both are a mess because I'm packing up for the floor guys. I'm planning to do the walls in either Stonington Gray or Grey Owl. It's an Edwardian apartment, but my furniture is sort of Room and Board. Curtains are classic Shade Store. I'll get a new rug and a new sofa when it's all done. Thank you for your suggestions. If you have any more....You're not in NYC, are you?

I would suggest a carpet on the lighter side (color wise) or sisal so the space appears bigger. You want your foyer or entryway to show off your personality!

Hi Laura... one other thought, if you were to move the track light so that it was aligned with the middle of the door you could then aim a light at the walls either side of the door, again helping to make the doorway wider.
