Could someone explain 'Row by Row'?? I've heard the term, even have seen a pattern, or two, but I don't 'get' the concept...???

Beth, a row quilt has blocks set into horizontal strips. So, you may have a horizontal row of cloud blocks, then a row of house blocks below it, then a row of flower blocks, etc.

In the row-by-row last year quilt shops in the area had a pattern and/or kit available for their row of the quilt. Here in FL there were turtles, fish, suns, etc. And each shop usually had a quilt made up of several of the rows that were available.

ETA - Google "Row by Row Experience 2016" and you can find the shops in FL that are participating this year. :)

Each region also has a Facebook page. I understand it's a marketing strategy to get folks into the shops, but the contest seems quite popular in my area. I think my shop had a completed quilt within 48 hours last year.

When my friend moved to Arizona and gave me several bags of fabric, she also gave me a row by row project that she had collected, but never started. The motif is Mexican, and the fabrics are the most wonderful, bright colors and prints. She had also purchased the border and backing fabrics for the quilt, so I am ready to go. One of these days I will get to it.

Interesting! I've never done a tow by row quilt. There are only 5 shops in my driving area, but it may be worth stopping in to check them out and pick up their pattern.

I'm in Atlanta and we have quite a few shops, so the row by row experience and shop hops, in general, are very popular. I also like that the participating shops post their row, so you decide whether or not it's worth pursuing.
