Dead fig tree?

Fig is obviously on last limb. Figuring it got too cold in the garage this winter,. Was pruning back the dead limbs and then went on to the truck. Took down to were there was some green;. About a foot off the top and found the white core, almost like packed baking soda. Is my figs life over??!

It may be dead further down or all the way time will tell if it shows any sign of life as the season progresses. It may be severe limb die back.

Over the years had some when bark was scraped and showed green under it but never came back at seasons end and others that sprouted down low.

Even though the horizontal branches would snap being dead once in a while it sprout near base of trunk.

I would just leave it be and continue watering only as needed.
